solar system

onepauly

here we see the earth is round

and so is the sun it circles around

the rings of saturn intrinsicaly  patterned

jupiter that great big colorful ball

like planet mercury ever so small

mars is it red or is it pink

neptune is probably in the drink

with venus so close and pluto so far

uranus an icy blue so far

as the eye can see a quasar

this course is the source

of infallable knowledge

just as invaluable realms

are charted

Paul, only a mind like yours could come up with such a great poem about our neighboring planets. I love the line "neptune is probably in the drink". You think they have whiskey up there?

    • onepauly

it was just fun to write. it is a fairy tale and I'm the author. thank you for your comment.

      • Nicholas Browning

I wanna get in on this action. Do you really think there's whiskey up there? I hope so. If I ever have to go to space, it would be nice to find some solace.

        • FredPeyer

Nicholas, next time we fly we will hire you on as a second co-pilot, and just to make sure we'll stash a few cases. Second co-pilots by the way have absolutely nothing else to do than to "sample" the stash.

          • Nicholas Browning

That sounds like a position that I can get behind! It's gonna be great!

            • FredPeyer

Ever thought how you are going to drink this stuff wearing a full space suit? I can just see you standing there wearing this air-tight helmet, salivating at the sight of that case full of bottles. 🙂

              • Nicholas Browning

Hahaha, interesting thought indeed! I would just have to risk impending death by suffocation for a tiny swig of the good stuff!

Thank OP for a playful and elegant jaunt through the SOLAR SYSTEM ? Have you ever wondered why in the midst of all this LIFELESSNESS ~ Planet Earth is the only LIVING PLANET ~ In the SOLAR SYSTEM and probably in our GALAXY the MILKY WAY. Planet Earth (GAIA) enables You & I to be alive and have a FUTURE as well as a PAST & PRESENT ~ makes you think ! Please check my Poem & Fusion ~ Thanks BRIAN

                • onepauly

the future will stay the same as it always did.
                  thanks for your comment.

That is true Friend ~ BUT ~ only if we Reuse ~ Recycle ~ Replenish our Precious Planet and don't Pollute it ~ AMEN ~ Yours BRIAN

                    • onepauly

absolution. with newer technology I believe we can clean it all up.

                      • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FRIEND ~ Nineteen of the G20 Countries are working together to reduce atmospheric CO2 back from 420 ppm down to 300 ppm or less. This can reverse sea level rise (CURRENTLY ABOUT 50% OF THE EARTHS POPULATION LIVE ON OR NEAR THE COAST) ~ Reduce Global Warming from 16 C back down to 15 C again ~ but we can't reform the POLAR ICE CAPS or replace the Rain Forests (which absorb CO2 !) MEANWHILE what is Trump doing ? He rejects the PARIS agreement and wants to produce ELECTRICITY from Kentucky Fossil Fuel (COAL) Yes we have the Technology and the resolve ~ BUT we all have to apply it ~ especially the USA ~ OK ~ BRIAN (UK)

                        • onepauly

what if we made and use those wind catchers. millions of them. maybe billions all over the world. they have them but way below what we should have. that was a wonderful idea to make electricity from them.
whos dragging their asses we need so many more! and more! and more! and more! and more! I think you would agree. onepauly

                          • BRIAN & ANGELA

I am a Scientist so i adore WIND TURBINES ~ just as I love ANCIENT WINDMILLS ~ they are elegant and beautiful ~ BUT the NIMBY\'s (NOT IN MY BACKYARD) in SE England who complained about SIZEWELL (Nuclear) and now WIND TURBINES (visual pollution ?) The same idiots of course drive GAS GUZZLERS and use mega amounts of electricty ~ ON YER BIKE IDIOT ! New Zealand IS ANTINUCLEAR and now you can\'t see N or S Island for the WIND TURBINES ! In the UK I would vote for 60% NUCLEAR ~ 10% renewables and 30% Fossil ~ with CO2 scrubbers. In the USA I would would vote for HILLARY ~ anybody but TRUMP ~ OK He might make America ~ Great (Again ?) but He will destroy the rest of the World in doing so ! WIND & NUCLEAR rule OK ! BRIAN (UK) What will it profit a man if he gain his own COAL and lose the whole WORLD !

                            • onepauly

I do believe nuclear, but we have to use our technology to make it safer. if they don't do that then I am against it. I don't like gas. (I never had a car) and I'm 62 years old. I don't like the idea of coal. gas or coal. whens it going to run out. and what our kids going to do? I still believe in those millions and billions of wind turbines. there are other ways. and in the future even more unpoluting ways. to harness energy.
may the force be with you.

                                I have no doubt.

                                • malubotelho

Awesome Pauly. I like to think that God is playfull but I believe God is the nothing that fills all the empty space including inside us. But also is the creator of everything.
