Fits tune: St Cuthbert
('Our blest Redeemer, ere He breathed')
********
Psalm 84 v.11
O LORD God, you a sun and shield
By your grace we are healed
For grace and glory will you give
And we shall live
Psalm 84 v.11
No good thing will the LORD withhold
But give more than fine gold
To them that do walk uprightly
They His ways see
Psalm 85 v.8
I will hear what the LORD will speak
He comes to lowly, meek
He will speak peace to His people
We shall not fall
Psalm 85 v.8
But let them not to folly turn
Nor for sinful paths yearn
For He will guide us in His way
Through night and day
Psalm 85 v.11
Your way, O LORD, teach it to me
I will walk your way, see
Walk in your truth, my heart unite
To your true light
Psalm 86 v.10
O turn to me, be merciful
I unto you do call
Give me strength, I your servant be
In godly fear
Psalm 86 v.15
You, LORD, I have know, compassion
You have, no child you shun
That you have made, and gracious too
You each renew
Psalm 86 v.15
Longsuffering and plenteous
In mercy, truth, to us
You are the same LORD, hear our prayer
Your love we share

Lovely structural piece and you've come up with the goods yet again.
Thanks M.
The same old English feel, you're good at this. I have a request, Orch. Yesterday I had a conversation with an acquaintance of mine. He is a christian, and I asked him about the principal of gambling. The answer I received was this: Gambling is not a sin. However, the love of money is. In turn, why else would someone gamble if not for the purpose of acquiring money? He said is was a way of being a good steward of his money, which the bible recommends doing. So, if you could write about your take on the love of money in a religious view, I would love to see it! If not, that's perfectly fine. But I can think of no other to write about such a thing.
Thanks Nicholas. Well, as I see it, I suppose gambling is not a sin, unless taken to excess. And (ooh) bit naughty to ask prayers to win the lottery. Those prayers may not be answered anyway, unless God has some purpose that we should win it?!
Well, I take part in raffle tickets for charity. I don't do the (UK) lottery, as too many people do it anyway, even those funds go to good causes.
I suppose it depends why we are gambling?; what is our motive? One church I knew, erm, got round it, by saying: 'We're not selling raffle tickets; we're inviting you to make donations for the tickets'!
Haha, yeah. Their view on certain aspects of the bible's scriptures are a little twisted, or can be.
Erm, I don't see how too much gambling can be good stewardship though. Even if non-Christian, we can't just blow the lot, without thought for others - bills, clothes, food, etc, all need money, for ourselves and family, if we have family.
That's one thing I suppose I appreciate about religion. The ability to question many aspects of life. I don't like gambling, but I guess I might do it for the fun of it if I ever got around to it. You're right though. We have to think of the consequences.
Of course it becomes an addiction for some. Fpr example, it's easy to say - 'The way to stop smoking is to not start'! But having started, one ciggy leads to another, and so on.
I call it 'Christianity', or 'spirituality', though of course Christianity is one 'religion' too.
A branch of the tree. They're all so similar, yet so different. It all comes down to belief. Anyways, my good man, send me a message if you have the time later, if you feel like entertaining my request. I must get to writing, I feel like I'm falling behind.
I feel I've answered it here, N. Can't think of much more to add!
Great write
Thanks T.
