Procrastination

FredPeyer

The ultimate thrill

An adrenalin booster

The source of

Sleepless nights

The reason for

Jumping breathlessly

Into scurried action

Is

Procrastination

Procrastinators live

Life on the edge

Balancing across

The high wire

Inches away from

Certain disaster

Staring wide-eyed

Into the abyss

Utterly excited

They never

Play it safe

No fun

No exhilaration

No clammy fingers

The higher the stakes

The bigger the kick

Beating the odds

Delivering on time

My oldest son says 'Procrastination is a virtue - if you leave it long enough the problem usually resolves itself' - great work Fred.

    • FredPeyer

Thank you Michael, am a procrastinator at times myself!

    • onepauly

ill have to agree with Michael.
      fred, keep on writing.

      • FredPeyer

Will do Pauly, something inside me tells me to keep on going, good or bad.

        • onepauly

good or bad. it always comes out to the good.

I don't know if I'm much of a procrastinator, but I do perform better under some stress. I have a friend that fits your poem to a T.

          • FredPeyer

Well, procrastination breeds stress. I perform better under pressure, not necessarily stress. (In my definition pressure is not as bad as stress)

A fine write Fred. I was gonna write on the same theme. My thoughts went:
Erm, yes, well, maybe, perhaps. Might write a poem, er, possibly. Can't seem to get started though. Ohh I give up - I will put it off until another day! lol.

            • FredPeyer

Yours is better than mine! Short and to the point. Maybe you should have waited until tomorrow to comment! 🙂

              • orchidee

Yours has a different angle, and is sensible. Mine is just mucking about! Well - it was a poem. I've changed it now, as I didn't want to steal your thunder!

The procrastinators curse "I will do it tomorrow" Good write Fred I could go on but I will leave that until tomorrow.

                • FredPeyer

thanks Goldfinch, am thanking you now (it is Saturday 9:35pm here), but for you it is tomorrow Sunday.

I told myself that if I waited long enough I might think of a clever response to this poem. Oh well, I liked it, Fred!

                  • FredPeyer

Thanks Louis, don't worry, I usually only come up with good answers a day late.

An interesting view on procrastination and I must agree, it's quite exhilarating though sometimes for the wrong reaso- I'll write the rest later.

                    • FredPeyer

Thanks Poetboy, you know most people look at procrastination from a different point of view. I tried to look at it from the procrastinator's point of view.

                    • Poetic Dan

                      Brilliant! Love it!

                      • FredPeyer

Poetic Dan, I wanted to say thank you three days from now, but figured I better do it right away!

                          Hahhahaha, brilliant

                          Really great write Fred
                          Love this so much...

                          • FredPeyer

Thanks P.H., you are too kind! Will tell you the rest in a few days!

                          • malubotelho

Very nice poem. I really think I'm exactly like this. If I don't have a lot to do I get busy doing nothing. When I have a lot, I do everything on time. And feel good. Thanks Fred

                            • FredPeyer

Thanks Malu, yes, we do feel good if we get it done on time. I usually try NOT to procrastinate, but sometimes it just happens.
