mortal

Heather T

in the ancient cove

of time's shadowed bowers

a thousand candles flame

burning down the hours

hold our hopes in pools

that render to the sea

a thousand waxen ships

antiqued in reverie

bygone and beguiled

horizon's promise clouds

a thousand spectral moons

above earth's mortal shroud

gathering gray webs

of relics' crooning trance

a thousand dying days

in years' temporal dance

wear moth-eaten dreams

reflect in milky eye

a thousand lovers' prayers

she wept; I heard her cry

This is so full of imagery and the flow is a wave of gluttony pulling me in and trancing me too the very end as it curls around my soul and let's me merge within the fiber of this unique and elegant piece. Marvelous job 🌹

Thank you humbly, quill that rarely whispers. Even in kind replies your saturated poem words bleed through.

First class writing Heather - metre and line length flow with potent metaphor and end with a great one-line surprise - a linguistic delight this reminder of time and mortality.

Heather, I'm late with my readings but had to say that you are one of my favorites writes and I need to ask you if you have published a book yet. Your work is too good to be read for free. We should be paying you. I thank you for sharing but let me know if you have any work published so I could get it.
