Memories revisited...

P.H.Rose

Memories revisited.....

two streets away they would proccess the fish,
gutted and skined and made ready for a dish.
very busy, very noisy and always that smell,
but now it falls silent and nowt we could tell.
I walk silent roads filled with memories and ghosts,
the smell is now gone and so has the hosts.
everything changes or so i am told,
but some things should stay as a thing to behold.
the people were hard but honest and fair,
small boxes for houses crammed in a small square.
a yard for a garden but we didnt dispair,
a ball and a wall is all we needed to be fair........

      Thank you WBL...
      I have been diagnosed with
      A form of dementia...
      I cannot remember the actual
Name of it but it began with P
It is due to my mental health
      Problems, my depression.
      I have trouble remembering things
      Thank you for you

The first home I remember as a child is gone now too. Thanks for sharing this fine nostalgic poem, P.H.

          Change is inevitable. Beautiful indeed!
Isn't it interesting to perceive that everything (naturally) would change except that we try to hold on to things wanting them to stay. The cause for the pain!

            Totally agree...
            Thank you for your wonderful

PH you might have posted it previously, but I never read it before, so we are gooooood!
Memories....the older we get the more we have and the more we have trouble finding them! I am so sorry to hear about your affliction and sincerely hope something can be done about it. Hopefully writing and using your brain will help. Wishing you all the BEST!

Your words describe the scene of many a loss in lots of streets and friendly neighbour-hoods - - sad but true the changes are everywhere not for the better P.H. - we still have our memories though eh ?

                  • P.H.Rose

                    Thank you Fay...
                    We certainly do.

Well I don't recall seeing it before but that doesn't matter - its a good write which got me thinking about the environment where I grew up - all changed now. Sad.

Yes times do change and not necessarily for the better. That wall was a hard taskmaster as the ball ALWAYS came back. Good write PH.
