Wish I had,
A crossing gate.
To keep me from,
Mistakes I’d make.
Free from errors,
And, bad judgements.
No falls off cliffs,
To downward descend.
But, life does not,
Work that way.
No flashing gate,
With alarms ablaze.
The train will barrel,
Down the track.
It’s only you,
To hold yourself back.
Take a deep breath,
And, clench your fist,
With eyes wide open,
Take a risk.
Because, those trains,
Won’t become derailed.
Either, achieve success,
Or, just maybe fail.
There’s one guarantee,
You’ll learn from life.
But, odds get better,
If you do what’s right.
So look both ways,
Before you cross.
They’ll be some success,
And, of course some loss.

All those crossingswe take can be scary, but once crossed add to our experience. Good write.
Exactly Goldfinch. Nicely said and thank you!
Yes, fine write WBL. Now Outback knows I gets confused with thinking and non-thinking, and all that. By the time I've "thought" about going over the crossroads the train will knock me over! (What I am wittering on about?). heehee.
Ha Ha. That is a good point about the problem with procrastination! 🙂
I think we could all use a crossing gate in our lives. Great write
Wouldn't that be nice? Thanks Tony!
Welcome
Damn, Write this is pretty tight
Profound within suspended sundown
emitting enhanced auric sound
strumming the influx of epiphanies impulse
Nicely done
Really deep "it's only you, to hold yourself back" I love that so damn true 👍🏼
Thanks so very much whisperingquill! It is up to us in the end. We have to try. 🙂
And thanks for saving as a favorite!
They can be so dangerous - when we reach a crossing we need time to reflect - do like this WBL
Thanks Michael. There is something to learn no matter what the outcome.
Wise council and written in wonderful rhyme. You capture the feeling of being caught between tracks.
Thanks Fay. I really appreciate that point 🙂
Look both ways....no train......but you missed the truck in front of you!
Great poem WBL, so true, but sometimes we do look in the wrong direction.
So true Fred! Thanks!
Very insightful poem. I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Christina. 🙂
Nice! I often have this conversation with myself...
It is good to listen to that little voice inside!
