Hypocrisy

Nicholas M. Langford

How dare you judge another, they say,

How dare you tear them down?

For everyone here has made mistakes.

Who are you to wear this righteous crown?

They preach these words amongst themselves,

Yet fail so plainly to see,

Their need to critique our morals

Drive them deeper into hypocrisy!

This craving I swear, comes from their pride

That flow into their pews with might.

God, how can they truly forgive

If only they are really right?

So instead they come together

To analyze, to judge, and crucify

Those who are guilty of the very things

They have tried so hard to hide.

The unfortunate truth of this message,

The fact we must all come to bear;

Is we'll all act to insinuate ourselves

Lest we become more self aware.

Now it's not morning in the UK, at my time of reading this, so it won't be too early to think this 'deep'! heehee. A fine and true write Nick. Sometimes it's hidden in what we say the anonymous "they" do. And who are "them" and who are "us"?

This is very true. If we all had the ability to see ourselves in an other person then maybe there wouldn't be judgement of one an other. It's hard for us to self reflect because the social norm distracts us and guides us away from self awareness and compassion for an other living being.

I absolutely agree, it's frustrating to sit around and watch.

It can become frustrating because everyone is either scared or unwilling to actually understand, expand their knowledge, and awaken their consciousness. But just continue to be self aware nd spread positive energy everywhere you go.

In short, I loved your poem and everything about it! The part I loved the most is "Those who are guilty of the very things they have tried so hard to hide." I have encountered people like this , and I was once like this. I'm not anymore, but its great for to be able to know I am no longer judgmental. But thank you for this amazing poem!

Good write and very true. Does any of us ever see ourselves as others see us. We must become more self aware.
