Who Needs Weeds?

WriteBeLight

One thing in life,

No one needs,

Those forever thriving,

Green, thick weeds.

Some of them,

Come with thorns.

Scratch at you,

Slice with scorn.

Under your skin,

Cause infection.

Focus on the pain,

Lose your direction.

Other weeds,

Leave a rash.

Red and inflamed,

Spreading fast.

The only thing,

Left to do,

Yank them out,

Their roots, too.

A constant battle,

On guard, stay.

Be ever diligent,

Don’t look away.

If your back’s turned,

They’ll thrive for sure.

Strangle what’s good,

Full of life, no more.

I wonder. Is it people can be like weeds? Or weeds can be like people? Excellent write..

    • WriteBeLight

Great question. It does work both ways! Thanks for reading!

Doh, I dunno! I water people's weeds as well as their plants, if I pop in while they're away on hols. I told them I'm no gardener...... heehee.
Weeds - "a waste of space"? As certain people too?!

      • WriteBeLight

Great point orchidee! I cannot stand weeding. Just came in from doing so. Nasty devils those weeds!

        • orchidee

Doh! They're here to stay though, 'people-weeds'. Had a sermon/talk about the wheat and weeds/tares recently. Nope, weeds can't be pulled up yet, 'people-wise' that is, due to the risk of pulling up some wheat (good people) with them. Well, we could dig carefully I suppose, but that did not seem to apply in that parable. But it don't say we have to leave natural weeds in our garden!

Great point of view from such a thoughtful mind. Thanks again!

Well, that was in the sermon/talk. So I was not asleep through it! heehee.

              Nicely expressed...

              • WriteBeLight

Thank you so much. Felt like writing a metaphor. I cannot stand weeds. They steal the sunshine from my lovely plants. Just have to yank them out! Thanks again rrodriguez!

                • rrodriguez

They must be yanked from the roots. They're very insidious.

Ahh - I fell a tad sorry for the weeds - after all they are only plants growing where us humans don't want them to grow. Being a vicious human type person I an always yanking them out and am beginning to feel a bit guilty but I still love the write.

                  • WriteBeLight

Thanks Michael. Unfortunately, some weeds we just have to deal with. 🙂

                      Yup 'fraid so !

                    • Fay Slimm.

This gave me a smile as I think I have their close relations in my garden patch !!

WBL, the problem is that some weeds are so beautiful. And they serve the bees too, so something good can be seen as well. Otherwise, completely agree, even people we consider 'weeds' may have some good in them somewhere, if we look deep and long enough. But then we have to wonder if it is worth the effort.

Very thoughtful Fred. You have an excellent point!

A never ending battle in the garden and sometimes in life. Great write!

                        • WriteBeLight

                          Exactly Christina. 🙂

Good write and very true when applied to people but with those in the garden weeds are only plants in the wrong place.

                          • WriteBeLight

I see your point of view Goldfinch! And, thanks!
