Tune: Lyons
('Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim')
Psalm 144 part
*********
1. Blesséd be the LORD, my strength for the fight
The fight spiritual, in Him I see light
He my goodness, and my fortress He is sure
My high tower, my deliverer evermore
2. He my shield is too, He in whom I trust
He helps me, me aids, e'en though I am dust
LORD, what is man, that you knowledge of Him take
And make account of Him for your great name's sake
3. Man is like vanity, his days short, small
Like shadow that passes away, fades all
Bow the heavens, O LORD, come down from above
Come, help, defend us, with your power and love
4. I will sing to the LORD on psaltery
And an instrument of ten strings, so be
With such I will sing praises to my LORD here
He gives us salvation, worship, He is near
5. Rid me, deliver me, from enemy
Their mouth vanity, their hand falsehood, see
And so our sons the shall be as plants up grown
And daughters as polished corner stones be shown
6. And too we pray bless our garners, our store
That they may be full, you our hearts assure
And that our sheep may bring forth ten thousands worth
Oxen strong too in labour, brought safe to birth
7. No complaining then, not there in our streets
For happy are we, God He our needs meets
Yes, happy the people whose is such a case
Of God as their LORD, His providings they trace

Oh I dunno, what else rhymes with 'must' or 'trust'? There's another 'dust-y' verse for you!
Good write and a fine Methodist tune by Wesley.
Heehee thanks Goldie. Some of Wesley's tunes are tricky to set words to. Well, he didn't write the tunes as well, did he, but you know what I mean! I really like the 'liltings' and 'repeat lines' in many of his hymns, though it can throw the congregation off-beam. I'm sure we could earn the tunes soon enough. Nothing worse than 'rounds' though, if they fall flat like a lead balloon. It 'murders' the songs, doing that! It's a disgrace too, I think, as it's all hotch-potch then, and sounds trashy. Not that we have to be 'perfect', and all eloquent though.
Fine spiritual write my friend.
Thanks Fay.
Thanks Fay. I've been a bit boring with the title, as I've two or three with the same title already, it appears!
Yes Orch, God is our savior. In the silence of the night we claim for God. In our labor hours we fight for God. Beautiful writing.
Thanks Mal.
Nicely done! You truly are a man of God, aren't you? I've noticed. I have an answer for the question.. Bust, Encrust, just, etc. etc. (lol)
Thanks Edward. Ahh, 'just' is a Biblical word. Dunno about 'bust'! heehee. Not that we have to kick ourselves around the floor as if we're an old football or something, but we are 'dust' or 'worms' in places in the Bible, it appears!
You got 10,000 sheep, and oxen too?! If so, where ya keep them all?! Well, they had them in those agricultural communities.
blust, brust, bused, bussed, bust, crust, cussed, dust, fussed, fust, gust, hust, just, juste, knust, krust, kruste, lust, mussed, mustnt, prust, rust, schussed, sussed, thrust, trussed, trust, yust ________________Just showing off - I looked it up. Another fine write O
Oohh thanks M. I shall have to use all of those! lol
Well written and expressed
Thanks T.
