Burned and disfigured beyond
All recognition of former self, I
Witnessed last night a perfect example
Of the outrageous raw courage
Of the human spirit ...
The sheer unfathomable,
Singular determination
To survive,
To live on,
To prevail
Regardless of impossible odds
And untenable circumstances;
Any and all conditions
Beyond reason or hope ...
And still, and yet,
And somehow,
Existing,
Thriving,
Inspiring,
In spite of.

Written with feeling and passion - great write Louis
Thank you so much, Michael!
I missed it. I think that is a very entertaining show. I go and see if I can find it On Demand. But, I think I saw this person on before. Extremely talented. Thanks Louis.
Yes, this was her second audition ... brilliant performance again. She made it to the finals. Thanks for your comment!
Thought it was her. Hope she wins. There are so many amazing talents. 🙂
A fine write L.
Thank you, orchidee.
Can relate to the courage shown by the courageous despite life-threatening conditions - - did not see the programme dear Louis but know how moving such beautiful people can be.
Yes, she was the most beautiful shockingly disfigured human being one can imagine. Thank you for your kind comment, Fay.
Great inspiration here. I did not whatch the show that inspired you but I love your writings.
And I, yours. Thank you for the kind comment and for, I think I saw, making it a favorite!
Yes, I favorited it. And welcome.
Well written and expressed, I watch AGT every week
I love the show too. What a wonderful platform for talented people to present themselves and their gifts. Your comment is so appreciated, Tony.
Welcome
A testament to the human spirit! Wonderful write about an inspiring person.
The human spirit is an amazing thing to behold indeed! She was an extremely good example. Thanks for the sweet comment, Heather.
I missed it too but would have been riveted and pulling for her like you Louis. Your poem makes a pronouncement amid a vast, 21st century culture of death, echoing the fact that every human being has much to offer - until that last dying breath as ordained and known by God alone.
Well spoken, Gary! I agree wholeheartedly. Thanks.
It was not on in the UK but I avoid those programmes anyway. Saying that I know what you are saying, there are so many wonderful people out there who are so talented despite having immeasurable problems.
Indeed there are! Curious as to why you avoid those talent-promoting programs? Thank you for your input, Goldie.
