Trade Winds

FredPeyer

The trade winds whispered in my ear

Let go, come, and fly with me, my dear

The ocean beckons, the air is warm

With sunshine gently kissing my arm

I hesitantly surrender, finally just let go

Feels so good, from head to toe

All worldly troubles are left behind

Now there is only me and my mind

The trade winds carry me aloft, far away

To a world full of peace, colorful and gay

Gazing at the ocean so calm and blue

I am disembodied from the world I knew

At last there is nothing for me to worry about

Even physical limitations have no more clout

Nothing at all will ever intrude into my space

Floating in this perfectly serene and happy place

Everyday concerns and problems can now wait

Even death does not carry any weight

Seeing a rainbow from far above

Fills the heart with wonder and love

I want to remain forever in this joyful state

Without prejudice, terror, war or hate

This vivacious place, my very own creation

Entered through the door of my imagination

  • Comment from author about the poem: The usual weather pattern in Hawaii includes the trade winds, winds flowing from east to west. They are great, not too strong, but keeping the island cool.

Goldfinch, this is the beautiful part of being a poet. We can travel where nobody else can!

Made me long for the days of my youth when the road was my home. Thanks for the tears of joy long forgotten.

            Thank you so much, Mugsdaddy!
I was floating in the trade winds, you were on the road, somebody else was I don't know where. That is the beauty of imagination!

Here it comes. Surrender yourself to Hawaii beach, full relaxation by the calm and blue ocean.
I can hear the whisper of the trade wind.

This is so light and relaxing. I love your serene imaginative place Fred. It there where I go to cool down. Very hot and muggy here too. Dark and scary. Hurricane season is always ugly.

Thank you Malu for your nice comment. Sometimes we need to take some time off from our everyday pressures, even if it is only in our mind.
