No Cabbage For You....Well, Maybe

WriteBeLight

I know you love cabbage,

Of course, you do.

I’ve always saved the best,

From the garden for you.

But, there was one day,

You were nasty to me.

Tears filled my eyes,

I was too blind to see.

Before the incident,

That tore me apart,

You shared cabbage recipes,

So dear to your heart.

What hurt me the most,

I’d always been there.

But, I realized the hard way,

You lack the same care.

So, no more for you,

Soup with savory seasoning.

No more zesty coleslaw,

So, crunchy and pleasing.

You’ll have to do without,

I’m done with you.

Guess what, this season?

“NO CABBAGE FOR YOU!”

But, I know I’ll forgive.

I’ve a very big heart.

It’s not in me to keep,

You and cabbage apart.

I’ll offer you this,

Show you kindness, instead.

This cabbage from the garden,

With the biggest of heads.

I think this reflects,

You so well, in reality.

It mirrors so perfect,

Your bombastic personality.

As you look at its surface,

A few rough spots outside.

But, as you pull back the leaves,

You’ll still find a heart inside.

Good write. Trust is easily broken but so very hard to get back.

    • WriteBeLight

So very true Goldfinch. I am being very careful from now on. Thanks so much!

A fine write and pic with puss and cabbage WBL! Our guinea pigs get cabbage leaves, but lettuce leaves are a no-no for them! And not too many sprouts - because, ahem! lol.

      • WriteBeLight

Ha Ha. Thanks orchidee. I thought the picture was appropriate. What a talented kitty cat 🙂 I can see your guinea pigs are very happy and healthy!

        • orchidee

They're not actually a pic of my piggies, but they do look like rather like the colours of two of the four piggies that we have.

Wonderful. Hit 'em where it hurts the world is a tasteless place without delicious cabbage... Loved the whole thing .

          • WriteBeLight

            Thanks Mugsdaddy! I agree 🙂

HI HONEY ~ I love cabbage and would be very sad without it ~ at least once or twice per week ~ love cabbage water too ! Pleased you relented ~ even if He never repented ! Cabbages have a lot more HEART than some people I know ~ and the inside of a Cabbage (when sliced) is breathtakingly beautiful ! Love the Cabbage headed Cat picture.

I do feel sorry for Cabbages
They stand on one leg ~ all day
And have their HEART in their HEAD !

Thanks for caring ~ Hugs ~ BRIAN

Such a lovey comment Dear Brian! Did not know about cabbage water. Sounds very healthy. I agree that cabbage is a beautiful vegetable and very good for one's health. And, I love your little poem. I thought the Cabbage Cat was cute, too. 🙂

Greatly enjoyed your 'cabbage' poem, WBL!
Love goes through the stomach. No more food = no more love! And that goes for friends who let you down too! Love the last stanza!

              • WriteBeLight

Thanks Fred. Took awhile, but I did not want to stoop to this person's level. It was a learning experience as I did not expect this person would not help me when I needed it, even though I had always made myself available to help them. Nonetheless, water under the bridge. Thanks again!

                    Welcome

                  • Fay Slimm.

A good illustration in this rhyming message and a cabbage really fills the requirements for looking inside - scarred maybe but still hiding a heart.

                    • WriteBeLight

Thanks Fay. Thank goodness this person does have a heart, afterall. 🙂 I appreciate your comment.

                    • myself and me

Very interesting put " cabbage and friendship" .
When you put your full heart into a friendship, and being hurt like that, the wound takes a long time to heal.
                      Such a cute picture.

                      • WriteBeLight

I agree with you M&M. In this case, I was really hurt, and you are correct. Took me a while to heal. I used the cabbage example because, it is a true story, and I went out of my way to be sure to give it to this person. So, when this person did not help me, I tried to use humor and said "Then no cabbage for you," similar to the old Sienfield show about the "soup nazi" who told people "No soup for you," when they misbehaved in his restaurant. In any event, I have learned from the experience. Thanks so much for your comment. 🙂

                        • myself and me

Who ever this person is, does not deserve your kind heart. It is their huge lost in their life.

Wow! You've got talent, never thought about cabbage and poetry. Well done.

Thank you malubotelho! I explain in myself and me's reply above a little background. Thanks for your very kind words!
