Art is Feeling.

Goldfinch60

“Painting is but another word for feeling”

Constable said,

His paintings are sublime.

But where he put his feelings on canvas with paint,

I use paper and ink

To put my feelings into words.

Mozart put his feelings in music,

Rodin in sculpture.

Throughout art,

All types of art,

Feelings are seen.

So whether artist, poet, composer or sculptor,

All show their feelings in their works.

So I paraphrase Constable,

“ALL art is but another word for feeling”.

A fine write and pic G/F. Now I'm gonna be all psychological. It's said: Thoughts leads to feelings, and feelings lead to behaviour (actions, words, etc). Now I can't say psych-wotsit after sherries!

Thanks Orchi. I don't do thinking very much as I believe that thinking is dangerous.

And a big 'hear hear' from a struggling jack of all trades (artist and poet) Enjoyed this. Did you see last weeks 'Fake or Fortune' - worth looking up on catch-up if you missed it - all about a Constable painting which featured Willy Lott's cottage shown in the Haywain above.

Yes I saw it that is where I got the quote from. I bet Phillip Mould is not very happy beneath that serene exterior.

Beautiful writing, and I agree 100% with you Goldfinch, on the subject matter. Feeling is what it is all about!

Thank you Fred. Feeling is sure what it is all about.

I like the company of artistic and creative people. They are by and large feelings people just as you say. Lovely piece of writing underneath that tatty old picture by the way.

That tatty old picture may be worth a fortune one day! Thanks for your comments da, much appreciated.

And I would add 'architect' to that list of artists. Maybe throw in 'singers' and 'musicians' ... artists all, who can express their true feelings in their works. Splendid tribute, Goldie!

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Louis. I agree anybody that can show their feelings in their art.

You wrote beautifuly about art and feeling. Feeling isfor sure the interior art that we carry and distribute it in many different ways. Externalizing it is the creation.

You are right. I am feeling lazy today, so I only write a short one.
