The wisdom gained with age

Comes at a price;

The more I understand

The less I know.

I thought you'd be knowing more, if you're understanding more?! A fine write L.

What we think we know often tends to fade in the light of wisdom, does it not? Thanks for your comment, 'O'.

Oh, my cousin, known as "one" knows everything - well, 99%. He won't listen to wisdom, reason, or anything. he's right - all the time, even if he's wrong! heehee. I know what you mean though - this is not "one" speaking. He wouldn't understand!

So true Louis. there's got to be a whimsical on this subject - great write.

Thanks, Michael. The word 'whimsical' fits nicely.

              Wisdom is wasted in youth,
and by the time we become wise, we're very much, too old to benefit from it.
              Intriguing write, thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your contemplative reply, doc!

I am on the opposite. The more I know, the less I understand.
I am not there yet. How sad.
                  Nice writing.

This is very true. I stop to understand things long ago so now I only accept it. Whatever it is, it is.

                    • Louis Gibbs

I believe you understand more than you give yourself credit for, Malu. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I'm not sure of that but I live my days trying to listen to silence to see if I can get a clue.

Knowledge fades in the light of wisdom, doesn't it. Thank you, Goldie.

Socrates supposedly said: I know that I don't know anything. There is no proof though in Plato that he actually said it. Maybe we should say it differently: The more I understand, the more I want to know.
                          Love your poem, Louis!

I think I know where Socrates was coming from: To know the difference between knowledge and wisdom implies wisdom ... kinda like knowing that you are crazy is a sign of sanity? Or maybe that's a crazy analogy! Oh well, thanks for your thoughts, Fred.
