It is interesting to find that
Life's lessons never cease.
Looking back on my path
A great irony becomes clear;
Having lived this life quite fully,
Tasting both the bitter and the sweet,
Though barely surviving the bitter,
The deepest pain accompanied the sweet.

The one is compliment to the other - if you can survive it. Good job Louis.
Indeed it is. Thank you so much, Frank.
Life is as you say in this interesting write Louis - - we can only try to work within the framework of willingness to fit into the present scheme of things. A most engaging read.
I appreciate your wise comment so much, Fay. Thanks!
And I rike (really and like) it - good read Louis
A fine coined word! Has an oriental ring to it. Thanks, Michael.
Riked this as well!
It seems Michael has expanded the dictionary. Thanks for riking, pb.
Great poem, Louis, I really like (not rike) it!
When the 'bitter' happens, you are already down on the ground, fighting. When the 'sweet' happens, it lifts you up to lofty heights.
And then, if you fall from these lofty heights, it hurts a lot more than the ground fighting did.
That pretty much sums it up. Thanks, Fred!
Part of life's roller coaster- they say the bitter makes us stronger - sometimes that's hard to see. Love your poem.
Thanks so much, Sue. It is that!
"Though barely surviving the bitter,
The deepest pain accompanied the sweet."
My favorite lines.
Beautiful writing.
Thank you for that fine compliment, m&m.
Very true Louis. Tasting both is what life is about and going forward is the only way to go, never give up.
Indeed we are here to taste a big dose of each, and keep going. Thanks for your reply, and for the friendship request, I'm honored!
Wise Santita. Without the bitter, the sweet is not so sweet. One night without sleep makes the other night great. And the next day, even greater. Life is so good if we know how to appreciate the good and wonder with the bad. Amazing. You got an awesome writing here. Bitter or sweet it is all good.
It is all good, Malu. Thanks for your reply.
Hi Louis... thank you for your poem. There is a nice positivity here despite the bitter/sweet times. A lovely poem.
Agreed, Alf! Thank you for your comment.
