Man ...
The only animal species whose
Very existence is incompatible
With its host planet earth,
Making it incumbent upon him
To utilize this temporary stay
Granted as a birthing place,
To graduate to his rightful
Home amongst the stars,
Before his time expires.
Tick tock.
Tick tock.

- Comment from author about the poem: My muse slipped this one to me intact ... complete. It reflects my long held perspective of mans painfully slow evolution, and the narrow window of opportunity left to make the leap to the next level of evolution before having to start all over from the rubble of what is left.

Short but well said! I would go further to suggest that Man may be the first species to bring about his own extinction. Indeed, tick tock.
He may well be. Thanks for the comment, Seek.
Time will tell but long after I've gone - tock tick...
We can hope.
Maybe mans existence is compatible we've just got it so wrong so far. tick tock. nice writing
Compatible, perhaps, in a more advanced state in far fewer numbers. I appreciate your reply, d-a.
Tick tock indeed. It is only a matter of time.
Your wisdom is appreciated, Goldie!
Louis, I love it! Who knows, maybe our time already expired, we just didn't realize it yet.
Well taken point-of-view, Fred! We may be on the way out.
Well, I been here millions of years, so I say! (lol). But seriously, I see Christianity, with its faith and beliefs, as the only full solution.
I don't mean 'religion', people mucking about how many times they cross themselves, rituals, rites, etc. Saw someone recently do it . Nearly drove me potty. I would be worn out doing that lot!
Sorry, my friend, but I cannot agree that parking one's mind in any comfort zone, be it a religion, science, or whatever, is conducive with the evolution of man's mind required to push the species forward. I respect your right to disagree, and thank you for commenting.
We keep passing the open window , cool poem
We have, indeed ... many times in our history. Thanks for your comment, WL.
Thanks Louis. One angle is the James Bond film 'Moonraker'. The villain takes supposedly 'super-people' into his space station thingy. But he forgot - they are still people. They would mess it up there, if it had survived.
Meanwhile - how would they go shopping on the space station, and other practical things?! heehee.
Good question. You think space stations might have malls? And yes, at our present state of evolution we could mess it up there too. Appreciate your response!
