What is the Time?

Goldfinch60

We often ask the question

“What is the time?”

But do we need to know the time?

Surely all we want to know

When we ask the time,

Is how close it is,

To another time.

Good write G/F. Yes, when we ask someone 'what is the time' it's a different time to what time it was when we asked them what the time was. I mean, about 3 seconds have passed, as they look at their watch and tell us the time!
You started me off now, with your ins and outs of playing cricket poem. lol.
What 'time' was it when I told Harold to look up?!

    • Goldfinch60

it was 11:43 am, I remember it well, the sun stopped at that time.

or to the end of time. Yes indeed, GF.

      • Goldfinch60

        Indeed Frank, indeed.

Great poem! And every time you ask somebody for the time right after they looked at their watch, they will look again!

        • Goldfinch60

Perhaps they didn't realise what the time was. Thanks Fred.

You guys sound really sadistic. Does anyone really care what time...
          Crap I'm late.

          • Goldfinch60

I do sincerely apologise and hope that your forgiveness for my making you late by reading this poem is just as sincere.

Time as we perceive it is a weird commodity.
Have you ever heard yourself say 'I won't have time until Thursday' ? Erm.... thinking about it is sure to produce a headache. Or 'Thats the last time i tell you'.
So we created time zones to make time more manageable (does it?) but regardless of USA being 5/6 hours behind us - it simply isn't true is it. Time is time its just the 'stage' of the day thats different.

I try not to think about time too much - though i hate being late for appointments.

Your writing certainly provoked me LOL.

              • Goldfinch60

Thanks DA, time is certainly a strange thing and the sayings we have about it, even in music we must 'keep in time'.

I am glad it tweaked your thought cells.

Time serves to cue the players when to interact on the stage of life. Good thoughts, Goldie.

                  Very true Louis,. Action!

The correct answer to the question: 'What's the time?' is of course: '

'the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.

Why does nobody ever get it right?

                    • Goldfinch60

Of course it is, I will have to ask Orchi if that is the right answer.

                      • Michael Edwards

                        Orchi will know
