the colours of my yesterdays
course through my veinous soul
lips now offer fragile wisdom
as I begin becoming old
the vibrance of my youthful joys
describe my smile today
the race so readily ran and won
winnings ageing takes away

Amen! From a 69 year old!
Love your poem.
Ditto from a 74year old - super piece of work dusk
Thank you Fred. I\'m being reborn next week, well re-inventing myself anyway. And thank you ME .. gosh you must be wisest among us.
I wish !
A poignant read which applies to everyone over a certain stage in life. "Colours of Yesterdays" could become a poem in itself D.
Food for thought Fay? Thanks for reading and comments.
Who knew in our ignorance of youth as we race ahead to reach those so important Milestones of becoming a teenager, learning to drive, being able to drink and finally calling ourselves adults we're all just minor victories in a race that none of us want to be first to cross the finish line .

I rekkon its a relay race, we all get to do a few circuits... can't prove it ... yet! Thanks for commenting.
Super write from another aging, happy old'un.
Thanks Goldfinch, I'm still not ready to hang up my rock n'roll shoes just yet.
Good write dusk. Come on now, we are all 21! heehee.
21?? of course i am, i've been there three times so far. Thank you orchidee.
I loved your poem. I'm still in my thirties so I can't speak about aging, really, but I wanted you to know that I read your poem and I enjoyed it.
Thank you Christina, i'm pleased you enjoyed it.
Awesome writing Dusk. Ageing like everything brings good and bad. Less sleep, more thoughts, sometimes more weight. More wisdom, less stress. A different way of feeling happy. I'm getting there.
Don't rush it. Thanks Malu.
The only place I can rush now is to the plastic surgeon office. Haha 😂
What greater "winnings" than wisdom? Like your fine poem, dusk!
hmmmmm there are a few moments i'd trade for some of this wisdom. Glad u liked it thank u.
