Growing Pains

Christina8

North Korea's threats for nuclear war

Mexico's devastating earthquakes

Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and Maria

What on earth is next for Pete's sake?

How much more can the people handle?

in all the devastated cities and towns?

When there is no electricity and

their lives have been turned upside down?

Mother Earth is lashing out and we have a

leader that doesn't believe in global warming

It just seems like every week we have a

new hurricane of massive force forming

North Korea and our president lash out

at each other over who will do what first

We're both set out to destroy each other

I feel like we haven't begun to see the worst

  • Comment from author about the poem: So many people on earth are grieving right now for losses of various sorts. And there are more atrocities that aren't even making news coverage. I feel like I barely touched on whats happening right now. But they need donations and prayers. And hopefully the situation in North Korea won't escalate.

The plot thickens, indeed, in this well-produced drama. Do not despair, Christina, we are immortal.

    • Christina8

Well our spirit is immortal but not so sure we are. Thanks for your comment

      • Louis Gibbs

Our "spirit"/soul is all "we" are. The ego/flesh "self" is but a temporary instrument in our growth process. Step back and take the long view and world events will become less worrisome.

Thanks Christina to remind us of this insane thing that us politics. I don't watch TV because is nothing there for me. I don't see a way out. Nice writing here.

        • Christina8

Yeah I stopped watching the news for a long time but the last few days had me hooked. Time to quit again! Thanks for the kind review!

It seems a prophetic title, and well explained in your poem. I've heard it described as 'birth pains', not of a new age really, but in an ongoing way maybe.
Erm, and all what Outback says too - probably! if I could unravel it all! That's a verbose cat there (his pic). Here's me briefer comment.

            • orchidee

              He knows , that cat!

            • orchidee

Bit more! Well, I'm reading a 'Good News Gospel' short series of studies, also with poems in progress. It's exciting - not all that's going on in the world, and sin (must name it as such), but God's overall sovereignty and plans.

              • Christina8

                Thanks for your review orchidee!

The two overgrown kids having temper tantrums threatening throw his big bad toys at each other. Wish I could tell them both to just grow up and act like the leaders you are, not the children that they're not. Excellent expression of what everyone is thinking Christina. ; )

Very well written Christina, so much horror in the world and it is now being enhanced by two meglomaniacs.

                                • Christina8

Yes there is a lot of horror in the world. Thanks for commenting on my poem! Appreciate it!

Christinie, thank you for this poem. It reminded me again how thankful I should be to live in peace, on a beautiful island, with electricity, enough food, enough work, enough money. Sometimes we, in the USA, forget what a sheltered life we have. But, it could all come crashing down, especially considering that we are well within reach of these rockets from North Korea. A sobering thought.

                                  • Christina8

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply, Fred! Yes, we in the US should be thankful but the North Korea threat is sobering. Thanks again, I appreciate it!
