Hope & Love Reign

rrodriguez

Today I cry

Today I pray

Today I feel

My heart in pain

Today my flag bleeds

Today my flag

Is frayed to tatters

Let's hoist the flag

Long may it wave

The storm thought it

Brought destruction,

Grief and much pain

We soon found out

Hope & love reign

They’re not gone;

Our people have

lost their homes,

possessions too,

And for our people

Many sacrificed

Their lives, but when

The flag is hoisted,

And they see it

waving, they think

of Puerto Rico

Restored again;

It ‘ill not be

the same after

This hurricane;

They’ll be stronger,

They’ll rebuild

They’ll be more

Alive than ever before

Their hope is to

Rebuild their lives,

Their hope is the

Promise after the storm.

Their hope whispers

great things to come,

It leads gently

Through pain, through suffering.

It’s God’s grace,

It’s the beauty

In people’s hearts,

It’s the neighborly

sweetness, kindness,

The light at the

End of the tunnel.

Yes, their hope is

Their strength, their faith;

Their land split open,

Their eyes looking up

Though the country

Is in ruins, their hope fights

The mud, the water,

Hands dirty, sweat, tears

On their faces.

Hope stands with them

Amid despair.

Hope covered in scars,

Hope laughs again

They’ll not give up,

Hope gets them up,

Again, again, again.

    OMG. I saw that. So terrible. I could not believe my eyes. So sad. We just got hit by Irma and then there comes Maria. Your country got hit twice. I'm so sorry. I had a hard time cleaning and fixing things after Irma. I pray that your country recover and I'm always donating some for the people affected by the hurricanes. I hope this was the last but the season is still. I don't know if you know but I live in Florida and although beautiful Florida is in the path of hurricanes. Beautiful painful writing Robert.

    HOLA RODRIGO ~ I have visited the Eastern West Indies (Barbados etc) and this Year I spent two weeks in CUBA. I am interested in Coastal Erosion and the thing I have noted in the Caribbean (compared to the UK ~ Which is an Island) is that there are few or no barrier against the SEA ! Consequently the sea just sweeps in and destroys everything ! We have Filipinos in our CHURCH tomorrow WE ARE PRAYING for all those affected by Hurricanes & Flooding. Thanks for CARING & SHARING ~ yous BRIAN

      Hopefully after lifting some of the shipping laws today, they will be able to get some aid to Puerto Rico, though it looks like it is slow. I am glad that they are increasing media coverage. Loved your poem. Prayers for you and the country! We are all american citizens
