The Day That Broke Me

T...

The day that broke me

Is a day I will always have

Permanently engraved in my mind.

August 11th.

This was the day everything

I loved

Escaped.

My hands were held open

Longing for your fingers

To lace between mine.

But instead, they were

Stood up.

The day that broke me

Was the day you said I

Wasn't worth it.

You no longer cared about

My hand holding yours

Or my lips kissing yours

Or my eyes looking into yours

Or my heart beating for

You.

August 11th is a day

I am always re-living.

Because

That was the day

That broke me.

So glad you liked it, and I'm glad it helps you get through your heartbreak as well. Hang in there! 😊

The end of a loving relationship is never easy. But look at it this way, Hannah: Better an end with pain then pain with no end.
            Your writing is very good.
            'Longing for your fingers
            To lace between mine.
            But instead, they were
Stood up' is a beautiful and imaginative choice of words.
