The Tandem of Love.

Goldfinch60

Down the aisle I walked,

Down the aisle she walked,

Joined at the altar,

Together we walk back up the aisle.

At the door we climbed on our tandem,

Our tandem of love,

Never to be apart again.

We rode that tandem,

Down the hills of life’s beauty,

Up the hills of life’s struggle,

But always pedalling together.

Sometimes one had to peddle harder

To help the other,

But we both shared the journey.

The tandem is old now,

But still it will take us,

Take us together,

On the road of life,

Towards eternity,

Always riding together.

A fine write Gold. I'm sure in eternity it will be level ground. Not in a boring, uninteresting sense, but no hills to climb, no dangerous paths, etc.
Then again there may be, but we shall explore it all with ease and unstrained, for heaven shall be, well, 'heaven'! But - me bike rusted up years ago. Soon after 1066 I think, when I pedalled away from Hastings.

Such a lovely idea to compare a marriage to a lifetimes journey on a tandem. Beautiful.
          Goes into my favourites.

On the road of life, towards eternity, always riding together is a greater aspect of life. Feeling importance of eternal essence is wise ever. Interesting sharing is done here.

Goldfinch, this is such a beautiful metaphor for married life. I can see myself on that tandem too!
One thing you forgot though are the few 'accidents' where we had to pick ourselves up after a fall, but in every case got back on to continue the trip! 🙂

                    • Goldfinch60

Thank Fred, yes we all had those few 'accidents' but they never stopped us continuing together.
