Tune: St Matthew
('Thine hands, O Lord, in days of old')
********
Give praise and thanks, stir joyful heart
Some melody now start
To worship Christ, your Lord and King
And Him gratitude bring
He is your Saviour, Redeemer
Does on you grace confer
No other hope, none to atone
Christ saves and He alone
He brings forgiveness to each soul
meets with them, makes them whole
By His Spirit lives, works within
To cleanse each one from sin
And change into His image more
Does of His plan assure
That none left out, there be no doubt
Spread the good news about
He comes to tend us, every part
Body, soul, spirit, heart
And to renew mind to think on
All things of Him, the Son
A destiny, a purpose sure
His good will in His store
Of blessings for us every day
As we walk in His way
If troubles sore, and life now hard
Yet His working not barred
Still in our life he acts and guides
No better choice besides
Hold to your Lord through dark and night
'Til clear vision of sight
And by His mercy you restored
To grow more in your Lord
Spring up well-spring from deep within
If heavy you have been
Waters of life to quench your thirst
Shall once again outburst
And refreshment to weary land
Evangel the dry sand
That those who need salvation sure
Trust in Christ evermore

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8686 8686 metre (Double Common Metre = DCM). There is a livelier tune to this, called 'Mozart', I think.

Thanks STEVE ~ Another great TUNE and an equally great POEM ! Thanks for caring ~ sharing and generally keeping is all on the STRAIGHT & NARROW ~ Yours BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Oh yes, nothing 'hot'. I'm a wet blanket, a dried-up prune, spoilsport, etc. heehee.
Orchidee, another fine write. I liked the line 'Spring up well - spring from deep within', it reminded me of what a writer is all about.
Thanks Fred. It's a Bible verse too, that line (Numbers 21 v.17 - Googled it! lol).
Another good write Orchi.
Thanks Gold. I'm having trouble with KP. lol.
