Tune: Old Yeavering
('Like a mighty river flowing')
********
Since 'tis you Lord bid us approach
Though on holy ground we encroach
Yet you bid us welcome, and to
Feed and drink on you anew
For no other has paid the price
Your offering it does suffice
Bread and wine for us are share here
As we to you do draw near
Yet you with us still abiding
By your Spirit, still residing
In hearts true that are believing
That worship you, to you sing
At Last Supper you a meal shared
In the Upper Room was prepared
You and your disciples eating
Fine fare, and with you drinking
That bread shared would be your body
That wine would be your blood shed free
New Covenant, that we may be
Saved through you, we do it see
Lifting praises, adoration
Salvation unto each nation
We give thanks, communion holy
Partaking, lowly, humbly
Hope we have in you our Saviour
You have given grace and favour
Here remember we your death shown
You atone, and you alone

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8887 metre. Preparing for Holy Communion, whether a church celebrates it weekly, or less often. I was reminded again, reading the Gethsemane story, that if Jesus had not gone through that agony, then on to death, then resurrection, there would be no hope at all for anyone (last verse). Never mind any complicated rituals there may be. They may have their place too I suppose. Also it is the annual Jewish Day Of Atonement today (Saturday).

Awesome !
Thanks WL.
THANKS BROTHER STEVE ~ Hymn & Poem ~ too lovely and too sacred for my mere words ! Great preparation for the Lord's Day ~ Thanks for Caring ~ BROTHER BRIAN
Ohhh, I'll appreciate all non-swooning words! And I bet I secretly appreciates swooning words too. lol. The only thing too sacred it seems, is that Jews don't say YHWH (Jehovah).
The tune name is an actual place in the Northumberland area.
Amen.
Thanks Gold.
