Tune: Webb
('Stand up, stand up, for Jesus')
********
Awake, awake, church growing
Unto your Lord now sing
Employ each gift, each fruit sure
In His service e'ermore
Cast off dullness, apathy
Let all light of Christ see
Rise up from slumber, sleeping
Faithful now to your King
Not ritual, institution
But all in Christ made one
His living body whole, free
That all the world may see
Lord inspire with your Spirit
Empower every whit
Your people for to follow
And you more love and know
We pray dark senses lighten
Of children, women, men
To seek your kingdom, guiding
With wisdom in each thing
And to know your will, doing
What does you glory bring
Sharing of your salvation
To folk of each nation
Forgive us, where faith be dim
We focus fresh on Him
Your Son, Christ, gone before us
He our Lord, we confess
In your name grant that we be
Your servants on earth, see
In small or great, whate'er ways
Proclaim redemption's days

Thanks STEVE you will soon have more hymns than CHARLES WESLEY
(6000 +) Love Stand up Stand up for JESUS ~ great tune ~ great words. Love your poem too ! Yours BRIAN.
Thanks Brian. Phew, a way to go! I read that including unpublished hymns it's 9000+!
This was amazing. I could see this be an opening read in most places of worship. Well done.
Thanks S. Hmm, could be, though I'm bit 'traditional'. Some modern places may not have it. They say it's not where they are "at". I don't mind modern, but some 'choruses' endlessly can drive me potty, sung about 20 times - or so it seems! lol.
Very good write Orchi, I agree with SM87 that it could easily open a Church service.
Thanks Gold. Well, some churches maybe. It's a bit old fogey for some 'modern' churches, but as I say, endless choruses can drive you mad, if they're singing just for the sake of repetition!
