Alaska Wildlife
It was a trip I’ll never forget
The wildlife here and there
The moose I saw the biggest yet
And also a grizzly bear
The ptarmigan was a beautiful bird
And the magpie pretty too
Both a part of the wilderness
With a lynx there to pursue
Happy were the many squirrels
Scurrying along the trails
Busy in the many spruces
and flashing their bushy tails
The timber wolves were also there
Hunting in their pack
Their tracking collars revealing them
To the rangers keeping track
The ravens flew with their heavy beaks
And the beavers built their dams
The martens preyed upon the weak
And the mountain had its rams
The days lasted twenty hours
And the animals kept pace with it
They were active most the day
and we didn’t mind a bit

Good write, I would love to have been there as well.
Thanks Goldfinch. Denali National Park was indeed very impressive!
As impressive as Alaska itself. ; )
Thanks AP. Alaska is so big we actually saw very little. I would like to revisit some other parts some day.
I'm on the opposite side of the country, but I'd like to someday see Alaska also, in the summertime that is. ; )
i went in June with 20 hours of sunlight i'm sure it would look a lot different in the winter
Maybe 4 or 5 hours of sunlight in winter?
yes, something like that
Alaska is indeed a nature-lover's paradise, as your fine poem describes so well. Nicely done, WC!
Thanks so much Louis! I went to Denali National Park on my first trip. I'd like to visit the coastal area too some day.
