THE AUTOCRAT
Dominant spirit
Departed with dignity
Forever at peace
Announcements broadcast
Extensive arrangements made
News quickly spreading
Expressing anguish
The relatives assemble
Last farewells expressed
Binding chains unlocked
Controlling influence gone
Freedom unshackled

I sense a very particularly structured form here, Michael. What would be the name of it? It worked well whatever it is!
Thanks Louis - yes its following the haiku format: 5-7-5 - thanks for the comment.
Some family autocrats can bind family members. Good write.
Or grind them Andy.
A fine write Michael.
You express the relieve after a strong personality is gone, very well, Michael. It does not only happen in families, but countries as well. Look at Tito and Yugoslavia, for example. Well written, like it a lot!
Ah yes Tito - I recall staying next to his residence in former Yugoslavian residence many years ago - I think it was in Portoros if I've got the spelling right - must look it up. Thanks Fred
No lesson today , but a very fine group of poems
As far as the people who reply I think I was talking to the converted - cheers Bill.
"The Autocrat," in Haiku format. One can read the last word of each line and almost get a sense of its theme. Well done, very descriptive. The domineering one has finally passed and the clan is set free. We called my Grandmother, "The Admiral," you didn't budge without her permission. Nicely captured our family's sigh of relief - Sadly. - Phil A.
Thanks Phil - your comments are much appreciated.
The wry humour struck me in the final three liner "Binding chains unlocked
Controlling influence gone
Freedom unshackled" - this puts the true case for an Autocrat.
Thanks Fay - not sure anyone else got that point (as you put it so well : wry humour) - really grateful for your kind comment.
