Window To The Universe

Accidental Poet

A symphony for the eyes to delight

Spellbound in the beauty of twilight

I look to the night skies

Such a beautiful sight there before my eyes

No clouds to hide my view

It’s been raining so long, making me feel so blue

Looks like a bright and shiny day

To me, is on its merry way

But for now I’m lost in this spectacular wonder

As to why I can’t look away, this I’ll stare and ponder

Twinkling stars seem to wink in my direction

Do they know I twinkle back to them in my reflection?

Star light star bright, how lost in thought I am tonight

Wish I may, wish I might, always remember this beautiful sight

With a song my heart longs to sing out

Of beautiful stars that shine down on me with love no doubt

Almost hypnotic in the vastness of space

If only with an artists brush could my voice interlace

To describe the serenity of this sea of stars

How many poets have set sail from here into their memoirs?

A nightly astronomical event

Emotions so picturesquely eloquent

These stars shine each with their own light so unique

Each like precious flowers, a cosmos boutique

And as the hours pass by

These beautiful stars will cross the sky

Until they grow dim with the coming of dawn’s early light

The brightest star of love held within my birthright

Now you know the view from this poems start

Has been through the window to the universe of my heart

    Beautiful write.
"Stars are the holes in heavens floor."

Thanks Goldie for reading and your compliment. Personally, I believe that Heaven is not just above, but all around us. And it's especially in our hearts. ; )

      • Goldfinch60

I would agree AP, Heaven is certainly in our hearts and it is there to be shared with everyone.

      • WL Schuett

Fantastic poem AP can really picture a poet looking within while surveying the night sky .

        • Accidental Poet

Thanks WL. It started out as a poem about the night sky, but as I was writing it, it seemed to take a little twist as I felt the similarity of loved ones in Heaven and also in my heart. Thank you for reading and your compliment. I'm honored. ; )

Yep, another fine day for poems, including this one AP.!

Thanks orchi. And the icing on the cake is yours and everyone's compliments. Sometimes I feel like a celebrity with all the wonderful comments. But I'm just one of a family of great poets here on MPS. I'm just one guy. ; )

            • orchidee

Thanks AP. it\'s good to be \'just a guy\'. I can\'t stand some celebrities with their showing off, vanity, and generally being tiresome. There\'s some good ones too though.

              • Accidental Poet

Yes orchi, some celebrities are so full of themselves it's pathetic.

                • orchidee

Erm, but apparently I\'m marrying Katie Price, a UK celebrity! lol. It\'s either her, or Shirley Carter from EastEnders, a UK soap. She is Worzel Gummidge\'s sister! Also a UK show. The lesser of two evils. Look them up on website, but take a deep breath first, especially before you see Shirley's pic! lol.

                  • Accidental Poet

Well orchi, good luck with that marriage. ; )

                  • lasergraph

Great inspiring write. I have ventured out at night and gazed upon that sight, I enjoyed my journey with you.

                    • Accidental Poet

And may we journey together for many more writes lasergraph. Thank you for your compliment and reading. ; )

Inspirational write about the stars. The imagery was wonderful! I love the last two lines! Well written throughout.

                      • Accidental Poet

Thank you Christina. the last to lines is where the poem took a detour while I noticed the similarity of the stars and loved ones already crossed over to Heaven within my heart. ; )

Thank you for bring to life for me that which I cannot see, the grand spectacle of a star-filled night sky. I love this excellent poem, AP! Beautiful write.

Thanks Louis. I just got home a short time ago and couldn't help noticing the gorgeous night sky tonight. It reminded me of this poem I posted today. So glad you enjoyed it. ; )

A very fine poem, AP! Makes me want to stay up late tonight and look up into the sky!

Thanks Fred. Have you ever seen the International Space Station go by? If you go to the NASA website they have a link that tells you when the station goes over your area. It's awesome to watch. ; )

Thanks AP, I checked, and found out that if there are no clouds it will be visible for 1 minute on Oct. 15 and 2 minutes on Oct. 16. Will try to catch it.

This is so enchanting beautiful. It came through your eyes but expressed through your pure heart.

                                  • Accidental Poet

Thanks malu. That's how most poetry gets written, would you agree? ; )

                                    • malubotelho

Yes but I feel sorry that most of the writings are so sad. People live in depression. Too much suffering. The hearts are getting darker as the writing. Your poem is pure light. Brilliant

                                      • Accidental Poet

Yes I agree about some of the writing being dark and where it comes from causing grief of the writer. But it's something that everyone must process in their own way and time. But I'm sure you know as do I, the more personal and deeper the feelings are, the better the write seems to be. Strange how that works. ; )

                                        • malubotelho

I know and it scares me. I have my younger son, 24, he is a rapper and he sometimes writes very dark things and he was living by himself and he brought all those guys and girls to live with him and they lived in such a bad way. Very dirt place and I begin to investigate and I've found that some art Luke rap can take people underground because they begin to believe that the more involved with dark the better their art can be. One of them got into a proposital fight to go to jail to discover what is the feeling of that.
Anyway, he stayed in jail for one year and when he came back from being locked he is a bigger success. So that means the dark side of life is very exciting for them.
I've got very worried with my son and when his contract finished with the apt I bought him back to live with me and he is going back to school now. I hope. I feel sorry that they are all mixed up. Luckily my son is a strong boy and does not do heavy drugs or I probably could not rescue him back.

                                          • Accidental Poet

Yes, I've seen how the younger generation all seem to want to get on board with the latest Rap theme of the low lifestyle. They're so caught up in what they perceive as art, they don't see how their future is fading away from jail time and some of them are attracted to drugs as a part of the culture they acknowledge as being "cool" and they fool themselves to think it makes them cool too. I hope the best for your son malu. He has a wonderful and caring mother. I hope that is his biggest inspiration. ; )

Thanks AP. I'm doing as much as I can. Also is hard to balance and not be invasive. I do my best to live in balance. Not easy.
