the penny whistle blows
and the dog begins to howl
almost in time
it’s music in the morning
at our place
I can hear the tone improve
as practice pursues perfection
and the dog
can almost hold the tune
woo-oo-oo
woo-oo-oo
I’m not singing out loud
just breathing sounds
beneath my breath
inside my head
this is a kind of music
and I believe
I’m keeping perfect time
when I sing
woo-oo-oo woo-oo-oo
yes
it feels quite perfect
woo-oo

Aaaah the Prem hound howls his ghostly accompanyment. Dog and piper are eclipsed. Actually its good fun to howl along with a willing dog.
Sure is DA. Let the hounds of your music run free.
The howl towards the falling moon. Good write.
Thanks GF. Let us all raise our muzzles to the moon!
Love the idea of muzzles to the moon but not before bums to the sod - great fun write to get the day off to a good start.
Have a good day, Micheal.
Dog howling - better than me singing! heehee.
Awooo! It's not so hard.
Dogs in the grasp of making music can teach us all much Frank - join 'em is what I do when that whistle blows in a new morning.
I aim my best howls at the moon, Fay. Glad you enjoyed.
And I thought that howling was orchi. Great write Frank. ; )
AP, I think it was!
Thank you.
I knew that howl sounded familiar. ; )
A dog is a man's best friend, but not a duet partner, or is he? They are forgiving creatures. Maybe you should work on your woofs, or arfs, a bit. A great fun poem, Frank. Loved the dog responses. They say dogs can appreciate music, just in a different range from us. Nice write.- Phil A.
Duets are a crucial part of the family bonding, Phil. She actually sang better than I did, but was mostly pretty tolerant.
Thanks for reading - glad you enjoyed.
