Perpetual Presence

orchidee

Tune: Melita

('Eternal Father, strong to save')

*********

Come search my heart, O Lord today

Help me to humbly watch and pray

To see your purposes fulfilled

That they be each as you have willed

And that your kingdom still may come

Through us may your good will be done

Give peace in world's storm, troubled lands

Oppressed sore here by evil hands

Show your great sovereignty here

Until your Son again appear

Then shall you be seen sure to reign

End of death, crying, mourning, pain

Till then grant patience, calm our fears

While living in this vale of tears

Yet comforted by your presence

We go forth, resting in you hence

To share your salvation with all

Which avails to who on you call

Life eternal, you have promised

Grant us turn to you, not resist

Forgiveness can be found in you

You only God, and only true

Your Son for us has made a way

That we may share in wondrous day

Along the journey, Spirit sure

Do guide us, lead us, evermore

And find our hearts a welcome place

Where you may reside by your grace

Changed more into Christ's image by

Your Spirit who can never die

An anchor for our souls have we

Sufficient Christ's work for us be

Who lived and died and rose again

To bring salvation to all men (mankind)

O keep us till e'erlasting light

Shall dawn perpetual on our sight

Thanks Fay. Some of it sounds a bit funereal maybe. Also, it's a bit early for Remembrance hymns, though there's some good tunes to them, and patriotic too!

So well written again, orchidee, I really have no idea how you do it day after day! I stand in awe!

        • orchidee

Thanks Fred. Erm, some days I don't write anything. Other days I may write 1, 2, or 3 poems. Is that cheating, saving them up for one-per-day on here?! lol.
