Poetic Dan



I started off sharing on a poetry site
Now I'm here on a open mic night.

It's something my mind had played many times
Never thinking that it could happen over night

From getting a message in the afternoon offering me this
I had six hours to try and deal with a three way battle

The heart ran straight to the brain.. Wait! Are you insane?
The brain just said, yes! now what are you going to do? 

I didn't last long, drifting away from this merry-go-round
Suddenly it was silent, no sound but a knowing.

From that moment I knew what I had to do
Embrace this as you have nothing to lose
 
For life is for living not drowning in sorrow
So I'm going for this like there's no tomorrow.

        I definitely gave myself a pat on the back but I would not be here or of gone there if not for people that said my work is worth hearing.

          Thank you, the courage was found due to all of you, I was bricking it from the moment I entered until I finished. Then had a great dance buzzing with delight that I didn't run and flight!
