Towards the Sea

Maddy Daltrey

Frosty railings etch my hands,
Bitter wind gropes at my hair,
Pulling me down, down,
Pulling me,
Pulling me towards the sea.

Interminable depths capture my gaze,
White-foam waves beckon me forth,
Drawing me down, down,
Drawing me,
Drawing me towards the sea.

Cold coast gales savage my lungs,
Brackish droplets sear my skin,
Pushing me down, down,
Pushing me,
Pushing me toward the sea.

White wave static fills my ears,
Sanguine water burns my eyes,
Calling me deeper, deeper,
Calling me,
Calling me deeper into the sea

WELCOME MADDY ~ Thanks for your first poem ~ very inspirational ! I was born on the WEST Coast of England and now live on the EAST so I have salt~water in my veins ! I love being on the sea in small and large craft and the call of the sea is always strong. Your poem evoked many memories of Sailing too close to the Wind ! Thanks for sharing Yours ~ BRIAN
