Captured.

Fay Slimm.

Captured.

The wind sees naught.
A bird approaches migration
with caution for flight is not blind
realizing storms get not distraught.

The wind hurls darts.
Gale's lash never aimless
evokes angry waves as breakers
rise to strike fear into sailors' hearts.

The wind works alone.
With fury's rush entraps
cottage-folk as he lifts latches
rips roofs and breaks walls of stone.

Yet wind knows capture.
In the mill's almighty sails
his pride writhes against slavery
when caught in forceful water paddles.

I appreciate this fine poem, Fay, and the shape of it is quite pleasing. Well done, again!

Great one Fay - I know only too well the ravages of wind...!!

Caught and captured, to be turned into useful energy, by boat sails, by mill's for grinding, or by today's turbines to produce electricity. The wind is an ever present force of Nature, which can be good or evil. More and more it is becoming stronger, destructive, and all the while Man cannot seem to grasp the enormity of her resource.
A great write Fay. Loved it. -Phil A.

A great write Fay. Love the way you captured the beauty of the wind but also how you made the shapes out of your poem. I enjoyed the last stanza very much--I hadn't thought of how the wind does know capture.

THANKS FAY ~ for an enigmatic Poem ~ sharing four aspects of the WIND ! The WIND is BLIND and unwittingly hinders Bird Migration ~ The WIND is DESTRUCTIVE - eroding coastlines and scaring Sailors ~ The WIND is SOLITARY and its solitary power can destroy Buildings ~ BUT ~ The WIND can be CAPTURED (and Tamed) to turn the Sails of a Windmill (to grind corn) (and modern Wind Turbines to produce Electricity !) ~ Awesome ! Thanks for Sharing ~ Your forever Friend ~ BRIAN
