It has happened once more!
There I sat writing some poetry
When it infused itself,
Through my ears,
Into my mind.
The pen was raised from the page
As this glorious sound
Entered my soul.
Music is so powerful to me
It can just stop me,
Stop me doing other things,
Other things that I enjoy doing.
I have to stop and listen,
Listen and absorb those notes
As they pervade my mind,
And enter the ether,
Heading towards infinity,
Where I will find them once more,
When my time comes to follow them.

- Comment from author about the poem: Once more it happened, apiece of music on the radio pulled me from my poetry. This piece was Wichita Vortex Sutra by Phillip Glass. Phillip Glass is a composer that three years ago I would not have given house room to, I know have most of his recorded work, he is a wonderful composer.

Another fine write Gold. Did you stop half-way through your cornflakes?! And did any music sound in 1066?!
Only the pre recording of the death march for Harold.
Great write Gold! The musical accompaniment enhances the writing! All we have to do is close our eyes and enjoy ! Thank you for the posting!
Thank you Laura, most grateful.
Great write and those last three lines are priceless.
I know that I will be listening to them in my future existence. Thank you Michael.
Music IS powerful! It can persuade us to do things, fall in love, etc. As Michael said, I love the last three lines. Wonderful!
Thank you Christina, the power of music has been with me for all my long life.
I can hear the music and see you lost in it.
Thank you m and m, music is so important to me, as I write this I am listening to āThe Hoursā by Philip Glass.
So true Goldie. I listened to the pianist playing in the video and I could see the similarity between his playing and your writing. The notes of the piano are as to the words you pen, emotional and poetic. Excellent write Goldie.
That is so kind of you to say, thank you so much.
The pianist is Philip Glass, the composer of the piece.
I listen to the music after reading your poem and thought that it was an amazing piece , thanks !
It surely is amazing, I have got to know a great deal of his music and enjoy it all (except his opera Einstein on the beach, I have some of his other operas and they are fine but EOTB is quite strange).
Thank you for your comments WL, much appreciated.
The magic of music, the universal language ... well captured in this fine write, Goldie!
Thank you Louis, as you say music is the Universal Language.
Thanks G! Thank God for music.
Thank you w c, yes indeed, thank God for music.
Thank you, Goldfinch, for both the music and the poem. Music, writing, painting, sculpting...art in all its different forms and shapes is a gift of the Gods! Also am quite taken with these last three lines. Mind you, the rest of the poem is great too, but the last three lines do stand out.
Thank you Fred, much appreciated. Yes art in all its forms is a gift of the Gods.
beautifully written!
Thank you anonym, most kind.
