Unexplained.
I looked for the good life but see
in late summer
a yearning for time to spin back
to the spring
where plans stood pine-tall and
future cajoled us
to exercise patience with hope's
grip held closer.
We laughed at inordinate hurry
of moments and
made fun of those cross-roads
looming ahead,
now tho' with loneliness pared
down to the bone
I know that time's shadow was
destined to flow.
Days weep for the nights when
moonglow lit hearts
yearning for paradise but 'tho
winter approached we
wisely coped, so why was one
star made to fly in
unexplained orbit yet its mate
may not follow ?

Good write Fay.
Thank you Orchi.
Fay,
Your writes are amazing!
This one does make us wonder and ponder
why one goes
and the other one stays!
My mom asks that
every single day!
Why he and not me?
Yes being left alone is always a challenge dear Laura -- good that you saw something to identify with in the read - - hugs to your Mom and your dear self.
Why not indeed. Great work Fay.
Bit of a difficult write so thank you Michael for your encouragement.
Wonderful poem Fay! Just beautiful!
Thank you Christina.
Your writing always astounds me Fay. Great job as always.
Ah you are so kind and thanks for the support for this difficult write my friend.
Another superb write Fay.
Ah - - thanks Goldi.
The last stanza caught me. Beautiful writing.
My gratitude for your visit and comment dear friend.
Your poem touches a deep chord in reflecting such a great loss, Fay. "Why was one star made to fly in unexplained orbit yet its mate may not follow?" says it all quite beautifully!
Yes dear Louis - twas a difficult subject to write on - grief is seen differently by those who have loved and lost but the final question still remains unanswered and as you say the losing becomes very deep when death happens suddenly. Thank you dear friend for your continued support for my work.
Beautifully said, Fay! I think we who are in the Fall or even Winter of life, all have this yearning for Spring sometimes. You expressed it so well. And while we may not follow the other star yet, we do know that eventually we will be flying together again.
Thanks so much Fred for these words of comfort and encouragement - yes I believe as you do that one day stars who collide and become close soul-mates will meet again.
