AND SO IT GOES

Louis Gibbs

I climb back into my trusty earth vehicle

After a night of cavorting amongst the stars,

Make the necessary concessions to old injuries,

Perform the requisite cleaning and preparations;

Choose the appropriate costume for the day

And play the part chosen as well as I can

Until it is time to call it a wrap and I

Depart for the stars once again.

And so it goes.

And so it goes!!! Another great poem, with an even greater structure!

    • Louis Gibbs

Much appreciated, Fred! And so it keeps going, until it doesn't.

Hmm, yes, does seem to be so, maybe if our life is 'ordinary'.
Does time go quicker if we're enjoying ourselves, as they say? And vice versa?

      • Louis Gibbs

You should know, 'O', having just gotten married. Many thanks for your thoughts!

Ahh yes. Oh woe, life is unbearable now. The end is nigh! lol.

Love this description from nights of cavorting to days when parts have to be played - an impressive piece of observed happenings in this we call life my friend.

          • Louis Gibbs

So called 'life' does tend to change perception with the clarity that comes with aging. Thank you so much for your encouragement, Fay!

            Yes, indeed!
            Beautifully described
            the life we live!

Life is not-always-so-merry-go-round but there is something to be said for routine. Well penned Louis

Thanks, Michael. I agree, life can be quite interesting, days and nights.

Love the poem and the so it goes ....
β€œ the more we know about truth the better we become β€œ Kurt Vonnegut jr

                • Louis Gibbs

Not sure how he defined "Truth", or "Better", for that matter, as I'm not familiar with him. Words can be tricky. Thanks for your thoughts and input, WL!

                  • WL Schuett

Yes Vonnegut is always a little hard to interpret, I only quoted him as β€œ and so it goes β€œ was one of his signature quotes from his book β€œ Slaughterhouse Five β€œ every time somebody passed or an important event in the book he wrote β€œ and so it goes β€œ it became quite popular back in the 60 β€˜ s on T shirts and such

Those stars are the light in our world that will always be there for us. Good write.
