Adrenaline Rush

Accidental Poet

Adrenaline Rush

With a twist of the wrist

I turn the key

Right foot on the gas

Let that six pack breathe

The beast awakens

With a mischievous growl

Drop the clutch in first gear

And hear that Mopar howl

Crusin’ slow

Lookin’ lean

Wheels rollin’

Like a star it gleams

On the radio

The Rock & Roll plays

Taking me back

To select younger days

A direct connection

Between body and machine

That Pistol Grip Shifter

So smooth and clean

I hear the dual exhaust

Music to my ears

Still sounds so great

Even after all these years

Shifting through the gears

Feel that power pull

Being pushed back in the seat

Adrenaline rush on full

My pulse quickens

As the guitars wail

Shift into forth gear

Now I’m haulin’ the mail

Love this! I'm not even from this time period but I love older cars! I'd rather own a classic than a new one anyday! Especially one as nice as this. Your poem did it justice! Wow.

Thanks Christina, I had 2 Plymouth 'cudas back in the day. Kickin' myself now for selling them.

Thanks Bill. I've always been a car guy and I wish I still had my 'cudas.

That beautiful '72 Cuda would bring big bucks at auction today, for sure! Great poem paying tribute to the muscle-car era, AP.

Thanks Louis. Wish I still had my '72 'cuda. The most fun car to drive I've ever owned.

What a ride, adrenaline stimulating experience.

Thanks m&m. If you could sit in it for a ride, you'd be amazed of how quick it accelerates.

Great, great poem, AP! The exhilaration of speed. Nothing beats it, be it in a car, on a motorcycle, or downhill skiing. And you captured it beautifully!

Thank you Fred. One thing I'm very passionate about is old muscle cars. Especially Plymouth 'cuda 4 speeds.

Good write AP, I felt as though I was beside you in that car feeling the rush and listing to rock n' roll.
