She had buried her dreams
In the deserts shifting sands
Had left her aspirations
In strange and exotic lands
Had lost her one and only love
To somebody else’s wife
Though sad and hurt she realized
She was now free to live HER life

This is SOOOO good Fred. An understatement when I say excellent. Job well done.
Thank you so much, AP. Am glad you like it. The next one will be quite different.
But I know it'll be just as great Fred.
THANKS FRED ~ Your excellent Poem mirrors my MANTRA ~ "Better to have Loved and lost ~ than never to have Love at all" I am an optimist ~ so I consider all LOSS as RELEASE to enable me too "To be free to live MY life again ! Yours BRIAN
Thanks so much Brian! A lot of people could use some of your optimism.
This is such a fabulous write. So many poets on MPS and just folks in real life ought to see this poem! It's empowering! Great job!
Thank you Christina. How we deal with challenges can make us either better or worse. Being the optimist I am, I go for better!
Very good poem Fred , uplifting and inspiring
Thanks so much WL, your comment means a lot.
Very good write Fred, living your own life is a dream to which we must all aspire.
Thanks Goldfinch, you are so right, but it is not always easy!
"Though sad and hurt she realized
She was now free to live HER life "
This is wonderful, free again.
Thank you m&m! Hardships are challenges to be overcome and it is up to us on how we want to deal with them. One of my 'guiding lights' is Helen Keller!
Great poem as allways!
Thank you so much, Anna. For me, writing a 'good' poem is like the blind chicken story. All the chicken has to do is pick long enough and it will find some food.
So much truth about us all in this fine poem, Fred.. Being thrust out of a relationship can result in an empowering spurt of growth. Painful, but often productive.
Good and insightful write here!
Thanks Louis, you said it all! Great comment, very much appreciated, my friend!
beautiful write
Thank you so much, Xavier! Glad you like it.
I'm gonna clear off and leave KP to it! lol. In my case 'Better not to have loved (?) KP at all'. doh! lol.
Thanks orchidee, I am always looking forward to your comments and how you will get KP involved! 🙂 And I have not been disappointed here, you did it again, and very cleverly, I might add!
Oh woe! It's utter misery! I shall keep grumbling. It's enough to make me want to write horror-genre poems! lol.
