singing broken heart at number 60

Frank Prem

I frighten the neighbours
with sweet songs of love
the only way to sing them
is loud

I don't suppose
what they hear
sounds much like most love songs
but what would they know
of the way I resound
with heartfelt emotion
when I sing melody
to emmy-lou's lead

and elton and I
know each other from way back
dirt cowboys and strugglers
with nothing to lose

the boss is the man
to tell a true story
he sings slow and low
and I reach for the deep notes
to stop him from being alone

I guess the neighbours
have a right to feel puzzled
for I give no clues by appearance
that I can sing broken heart

looks are deceptive
and the lounge is a hotbed
of loving and hurting
sweethearts and cheaters
and I am the man
who sings a loud melody
when emmy-lou leads

Great poem, great subject, Frank! I love to sing in the shower. Love all the references to emmy-lou, the boss, and others!
Thank God my neighbors are far away!

Emmy Lou fan? She's been the best for a long time. I saw her over here this year. Glad you enjoyed Fred. I used to give the neighbours a bit of a workout, I think. But I'm a better man, now!

Good write, singing is so good for you and it can bring all emotions, especially love.

      • Frank Prem

It sure is, GF. Thank you.

Oh dear - don't really know emmy-lou and as for Elton his best piece which I truly love is Song for Guy because he doesn't sing much on that. 🙂 That aside I do love the human voice - just been listening to Solveigs Song - one of my all time favourites - and a great poem Frank.

Get into some Emmy-Lou Harris Michael - you know you want to!!

Glad you enjoyed the poem, regardless. Cheers.

Clapping to a standing ovation Frank. Go ahead, sing with Emmy, the Boss, Elton and anyone else you want. We're listening.

Too passive, AP. You need to lift your voice as well. We could do a choir, I suspect.

Probably not a good idea for me to join in Frank. I'd be the dog howling along with orchi.

A good voice is a blessing to listen to. I don't try to sing along, but am stimulated to sing on my own by one. A great way to express and release feelings! Good write on the topic, Frank!

CHeers Louis. Singing is a wonderful thing. Glad you do, and glad you enjoyed.

Loud applause for singing duets with the famed Emmy-Lou - such a swinging flow to this choral confession dear Frank - let me clear the tonsils and will join you anon.

                    You'll be welcome Fay. Cheers.

As a natural born singer / songwriter and ex frontman i am always singing. I couldn't live without song! And loud and expressive. Great piece and good to see another who is similarly afflicted with the need to croak out a good song.

Hehehe the band of croakers! It could work, DA.

                        Ribbit !!
