Tune: Duke Street
('Fight the good fight')
Psalm 119 v.65-72
********
You have dealt well with your servant
Faithful and true with no relent
Have dealt according to your word
On me your mercies have conferred
Teach me good judgement and knowledge
To keep your commandments I pledge
I have believed them, they do keep
Me in your fold, safe as your sheep
Before I was afflicted, I
Went astray and stayed not you nigh
But now here I have kept your word
Attentive your voice my ears heard
You are good, and do good too
Teach me your statutes, me renew
The proud against me forged a lie
I keep your precepts, to you fly
Kept them with my whole heart, this true
Though the proud do not follow you
Their heart is fat as grease, so be
But I delight in your law, see
It is good for me I have been
Afflicted, and your statutes seen
And so may I them learn always
Living for you through all my days
The law of your mouth better is
Than thousands of gold, silver, this
I know, am assured, your word love
Help me obey sweet Spirit, dove

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8888 metre (Long Metre /LM). Erm, the original was one of the hymns at my recent wedding to KP. A never-ending fight now, and not good at all! lol.

Very, very , very fine writing orchi.
Thanks AP. I fell asleep at some points, singing along with them. A nice slowwww rendition of it! lol.
Thanks STEVE ~ Great Hymn for 11th November and a great Poem. Psalm 119 is one of my absolute favourites ! Every verse extols the infinite value of the Word of God ! Thanks for caring ~ Yours BRIAN.
Thanks Brian. Not intended particularly for Remembrance time. I did a 'spoken' poem covering every verse of Psalm 119. Not a hymn-poem though. Who can bear it, if I sang 176 verses?! heehee. Erm, it's 3,500 words long, writing a bit over several days, and 8 pages long! Surprisingly not too difficult - none of them syllable or meter thingys in it!
A wonderful verse of encouragement to keep moving forward toward spiritual blessings. Thank you for sharing it Orchi.
Thanks Fay.
Yet another good write Orchi.
Thanks Gold. A rather slowwww rendition. I sang two lines, then was frequently waiting half an hour for the next couple of lines to appear on screen! Took me hours to get to the end, following them!
I do like your writing, orchidee! We all have our afflictions and do need help to overcome them.
Thanks Fred. Yep, and one of my afflictions is KP at the moment! lol.
