MEASURED REASON
In depth of nights obscurity
the supernatural force asserts
a presence there unseen unheard
as might of incredulity
gives way to notions self-deceived
a victim of illusions call.
But in the searching light of day
and with the mind at last composed
the doubt that measured reason brings
receives the seed of logic sown
with wisdom now submission borne.

Super write Michael, the forces of light can always beat the power of darkness in our lives.
Thanks Andy. The sketch done in St James Park brings back special memories for me, I was sitting on a bench doing the sketch when there was a flash of light over my shoulder,. I looked round to see a very embarrassed man standing there with camera in hand who promptly ran off. Clearly he wanted to photo the sketch without my knowing and didn't realise the flash was on. It gave me quite a smile.
One of those magic moments we have in our lives - there are many of them.
A fine write and pic M. Got to go back to bed a while now though. This 'deep' stuff, this time of morning has given me a headache. Too much thinking by me, that's why! lol.
Then again, working out 2+2 gives me headache sometimes. Is the answer 5?
No, the answer is four but the trouble is there is more than one way of writing the number four and I don't know one which it is.
This is very clever and well composed. you have an extraordinary talent. I would love to see more of your artwork too. Beautiful.
Thanks so much - I do appreciate your kind comments and a different painting or sketch each day. I've just been working on a series of monotype prints which I'll be posting for a few days as soon as I get them photoed.
Incredulity versus reason - -- interesting thoughts Michael on logic that becomes wisdom through being measured. Hhhmmm - Great stuff for a morning read.
Thought it was time I posted something a tad heavier - thanks so much Fay.
It is kind of magic to me that the lines turned into sketch, and the colors turn the sketch into paint. Fine poem with deep thoughts.
I love the magic of anything that\'s created. We each have our own style of writing and when I read the poems of others I think I couldn\'t write like that and that makes them magic to me. Does that make sense? Thanks m&m
The man behind you who took the photograph just wanted to capture an artist in the process of creating a work of art. I understand your smile Michael.
I was quite amused at his embarrassment - and it gave me a great anecdote to relate when I give demonstrations.
"The doubt that measured reason brings" to "A victim of illusions call' ... Nails it, Michael! If only more of that transpired in this world of blind followers! It could break the cycle of 'ancient transitions' referred to in my poem today. Great poem, my friend!
Spot on Louis and thanks so much for commenting.
I'm all behind - something to rhyme with 'shun'? I'm still trying to think of something! heehee. Now come on Orchi, that was about a million poems ago!
Bum? No, not quite right but it is 'all behind'. Keep thunking - it's all good fun - yeah- fun !!!
Well written and expressed
Thanks Tony
Welcome
You are quite the intellectual here, Michael! I do love it. Want to be able to read it again, so into my favs it goes. You know, unfortunately, 'measured reason' seems to be in short supply in today's world. Just look at Washington!!!
I love the idea of being an intellectual - yup not much measured reason about these days - thanks Fred
That's quite a nice sketch, Michael! As always, you composed a great poem to accompany your art. We are much more reasonable in the light.
Things always seem better in the morning - odd that! Thank you Christina.
