HEAVENLY EXPRESSIONS

Louis Gibbs

Poetry is a form of expression

That can resonate with the heart.

Art, sculpting, and architecture all

Can likewise transport and inspire.

Yet

Perhaps the greatest of all man's gifts

Are music and vocals that

Imprint the soul.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Music has always touched my soul. Having been a vocalist all my life, singing was my favorite means of expression ... until later in life the voice diminished somewhat and I discovered poetry as a satisfying new means of expressing. May we all here enjoy this satisfaction in our craft!

II think it's in the eye of the beholder - I wouldn't put any one above the others but we are all different - nonetheless a great write Louis

The eye of the beholder, or the ear of the beholder ... anyway we perceive these works of art, poetry and music is a gift, I agree. Thank so much you for your input, Michael!

All art has its meaning within us, I love music but both words and art can pull me into their realms. I am thankful that I can appreciate them all.
      Good write.

I too love all three, as well as inspiring works of architecture, which I put right up there with other expressions of art. Thank you for your comments, Goldie!

You can listen to me singing then! Of course, it's very difficult to tell if it's me, or two cats fighting! Me singing sounds like 'meeoowwoooo'! heehee.

It is all in the eye ... err, ear ... of the beholder, 'O'! Sing away!

one of life's giving fruits which taste so sweet when you read such poems such as this. your transition from vocal to pen appears to be very humbling, yet, very inspiring also.

Art is art, no matter what shape, size, sound, no matter if written, sung, played, or constructed. Each one of us is different and perceives art differently, so there is no right or wrong, good or bad, superior or inferior.
Like your poem very much, Louis!

Art is art indeed. Thanks for your input, Fred, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
