Walk To Eternity.

Goldfinch60

I know that I will never die,

My Spirit will go on,

Go on for eternity;

But the thought struck me

As I walk eternities path,

Where does it lead?

What will I see?

I know I will always be on it,

But will I return

To where I am now.

The path looks straight,

But is it?

Is it a circle

Of infinite diameter?

And if eternity is a circle

How long will it take,

To return from where I am?

Will it take longer,

Longer than eternity?

I shall never understand the hymn lines:
'Even eternity's too short, To extol thee'. It's hyperpole, exaggeration for effect, I think. How can eternity be 'too short'?
A fine write Gold. I've just thought of it as a state of being. If it's a path I don't think it will be a circle. But oh no! Will you hope I'm not on the same path, cos I shall sing for eternity? It will be lasting torment. heehee.

That path to eternity and beyond will be full of great singers including you after all you will have eternity in which to practice.

Also, a Christian believer said to me one day: 'See you in the Rapture, if not before'. Hmm, yes, I suppose that is when we will see a believer again, if we don't ever see them again on this earth.
Me singing will be rapturous then. All will be OK. Phew!

So many questions in search of answers. All that matters is that the road to eternity comes with love in every step. And orchi, you will sing with the Angels, maybe even the lead vocal. ; )
        Excellent write Andy.

Thanks AP. Either I shall sing beautifully, or it will be like two cats fighting forever! heehee. Will eternity be long enough for me practice?

If eternities path just goes on and on then I'm not sure that I wish to walk it - but then I hold different beliefs. Whatever - it's a fine write Andy.

          • Goldfinch60

Thanks Michael, we all have our different beliefs and rightly so, the trouble always ensues when some try to force their belief on others.

You are so right Andy - there's room for us all.

This is a great write with interesting questions! We may not know the answers till we get there.

              • Goldfinch60

Thank you Christina, we will certainly get there and all our questions will be answered.

              • Louis Gibbs

You mirror my thoughts ... I was hoping you had the answers to these questions, Goldie! Oh well, we shall both see.

                • Goldfinch60

Not this time Louis but I am sure we will both find out in due course, thank you for your understanding.

                  You won't walk alone.

Who knows, Goldfinch, maybe one day we will all walk this path together, reminiscing about the good old times at MPS!
Seriously, maybe it is my age, but you brought up many of the questions I am asking myself all the time.

                    • Goldfinch60

Being of the same age Fred those questions are becoming more profound, but I will meet you along that infinite highway.
Thanks for your thoughts and comments.
