Just a few thoughts of a busy mind

FredPeyer

Wisdoms according to Fred

Thinking only of herself

She never grasped that

She had missed the boat

Longevity is no excuse

For complacency

Platonic love is like

Food without salt

You get the idea

But not the taste

He was infirm, blind & timid,

Yet his life could be summed up

With veni, vidi, vici

Holding on to hate is like

Playing in a pool with sharks

For a lefty, being right is

Against his nature

"Longevity is no excuse for complacency" ... My favorite of the bunch. Glad you could sneak in a little Bard Time, Fred! I won't tell your wife.

    • FredPeyer

Thanks Louis! I think too many people become complacent in their old age (definition of complacency: a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one's achievements).

Hey, my wife won't mind, even if she knew. I just spent 8 hours in and out of my truck doing a storm water survey on a highway of all places. Real scary and what a way to spend a Sunday. But on Sundays there is less traffic. So I do think that I deserve to relax a little with my poetry friends!!!

Finding time for a little wisdom-writing has bred a really deep poem Fred - - lots of appealing phrases in this posting but my fave. has to be - --
"Holding on to hate is like
Playing in a pool with sharks" - - - -- great read my friend.

      • FredPeyer

Thanks Fay! I am not sure where that came from, but I was thinking that you can get eaten up by the sharks the same way you can get eaten up by not letting go of hatred.

        Nice Fred!
        Platonic love!! hmmm...
        Thatā€™s a difficult one...for some!

ā€œHolding on to hate is like
playing in a pool with sharksā€...

This is true, but itā€™s so hard...
so hard to forgive and even
        harder to forget!

        Iā€™m actually in the thinking
stage of writing a piece about
        Forgiving and Forgetting!

        • FredPeyer

Thanks Laura, can't wait to read your F&F poem! Platonic love is easy, it's what we do here on MPS!!! šŸ˜‰

TouchĆ©...yes, thatā€™s what we do here on MPS! šŸ˜‰

Love the 'wisdoms' and can only repeat the comments by others above - great work Fred.

            • FredPeyer

Thanks Michael, I love to do shorties when I am in the mood!

            • LaurašŸŒ»

Just noticed Fayā€™s comments. I guess
              we were on the same
              wavelength...quoting the same phrase!

              • FredPeyer

Laura, I don't want to toot my own horn (well, maybe a tiny little bit), but if two people choose the same phrase, then it must be a good phrase, right?

              • LaurašŸŒ»

                RIGHT!!šŸ˜Š

              • Accidental Poet

hey, lefties have rights too, right? I'm a righty and I say let the lefties take the ball and run with it for a bit. Great write Fred.

                • FredPeyer

Thanks AP, in the middle ages I would probably have been burned at the stake! We don't have rights, we have lefts!

                • Goldfinch60

Good words Fred, I like the penultimate one, it is so very true.

                  • FredPeyer

Thank you Goldfinch, I like that one too. You can get eaten up inside if you don't let go of hate.

                  • myself and me

                    Marvelous indeed.
