Tune: Staff of Faith
('My faith it is an oaken staff')
Hebrews 10 v.22-23 & v.35-39
**********
Let us with a true heart draw near
To God in lowly fear
In full assurance of faith, we
Having hearts sprinkled, see
Cleansed from an evil conscience
Bodies washed with pure water hence
Holding fast our faith's profession
In Father, Spirit, Son
Not wavering, for He faithful
Who did us to Him call
His promises sure, to them hold
We are all of His fold
Cast not away your confidence
For it does have great recompence
Of reward, comes day of the Lord
According to His word
For you have need of patience, for
Having done God's will sure
You then might His promise receive
He shall not you deceive
But promise of inheritance
Eternal, it shall be the stance
For yet a little while, and He
The Lord will come, so be
Now the just they by faith shall live
And shall worship still give
But if any draw back, then no
Joys in Him we shall know
But let us be those who on on
Pressing on our good Lord to know
Believing to saving of soul
Becoming in Him whole

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. 8.8.8.6. metre. From one of my primary school hymns - about a million years ago then! Somewhat 'doctrinal' poem today! I don't know this singer, but one clip went ker-put when uploaded! doh!

Did you sing this in 1066?
Oh yes I did! heehee.
He nearly had the Normans turn back home - nearly!
A lovely and faith-strengthening message and thanks for sharing dear Orchi.
Thanks Fay. Hebrews gets a bit wordy!
Here's my age. A comment on this clip says someone sang it in the 1960's - my primary school days!
Good write Orchi.
Thanks Gold. I don't know the guy warbling here!
'For you have need of patience'
Orchi, that I do! The older I get the less patient I am. If you combine today's crazy occupation with speed (everything instant!) and getting older with maybe not that much time left, you get one heck of an impatient person (me).
Thanks Fred. I wonder if some people get more patient as they go on in life? Even if it's in a sort of way of not rushing, or 'can't be bothered to rush nowadays'?
