PLEASE NOTE ~ I have chosen a PAINTING of the Wise Men

presenting their gifts to the Young Child JESUS in a HOUSE

(not a STABLE) because this is what is recorded in the BIBLE

Gospel of Matthew Chapter 2 vs 10 & 11 ~ When they saw

that the star was stationary they were filled with joy ! They

came into the HOUSE (not a STABLE) and saw the Child with

his Mother Mary and they bowed down and worshipped Him.

They presented unto Him GIFTS ~ of GOLD ~ FRANKINCENSE

and MYRRH ~ AMEN !

You're right Brian. Heehee me Advent Calendar has the wise men going to the stable! Jesus would not still be in the stable as a 'young child'.
And the Epiphany comes after Christmas, not at Christmas itself.

Thanks STEVE ~ Advent Calendars are not known for their BIBLICAL accuracy. In MEXICO the Tableau for Christmas had the The Holy Family ~ The Stable and the Shepherds and o 6th January they were replaced by The Holy Family ~ Jesus as a Child and the Wise Men with their symbolic gifts ~ AMEN ~ BRIAN

But arrgghh no, no heavy discussions about them being 'Magi' (re: Magic) or 'astrologers'. Astronomers yes maybe, seeing stars. A fine write and pic Brian. Some pics of the wise men have them looking about 5 million years old. They would never have made the journey! Well, I'm millions of years old anyway. lol.

Great poem Brian! I have always had the wise men giving baby jesus gifts in a stable--like in the nativity. So that is new to me. Thanks for sharing. Sisterly hugs--Christina

Thanks CHRIS we can always learn something new about the NATIVITY ~ Christmas Cards ~ Paintings & Plays do not always adhere to the Biblical Account ~ Pleased you liked it ! Yes those long-ago Wise men were very wise Brian - a charming and informative read. Gifts of great value were made in that humble household where news of great tidings was waiting with salvation in mind. I love the image you chose too.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FAY ~ YES They followed the STAR and found the SAVIOUR pleased you liked it ! The POEM ~ JOURNEY OF THE MAGI ~ indicates that the Magi made an arduous and LONG journey ! Mary and Joseph would have moved back home and JESUS would have been about TWO. Note that Herod killed all males TWO & UNDER (to try and get rid of JESUS) after he had asked the Magi how long ago they had first seen the Star. Hence the chronological authenticity of the Painting I posted ~ pleased you loved it ~ Yours BRIAN

Good write, the gifts HE received were nothing compared to the gifts that HE gave to us.

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

YES INDEED ANDY ! The gifts of the MAGI were significant & symbolic but the gift of HIMSELF that JESUS brought has changed the life and after~life if BILLIONS for the better ~ AMEN ~ BRIAN
