Drummer Boy
This poem is dedicated to Jack, a good friend of mine,
and excellent, professional drummer.
listening to the rhythmic beat
of drum sticks dancing
like a beating heart
soulful entrancing
memories inside the womb
of mother’s heart beat
gently lulled to sleep
so tender and sweet
touching us deep inside
subconscious flight
back to our origins
in jungle’s might
the hard steady beat
spawning erotic feel
a fantasy of sounds
outer worldly but real
vibrating drums
exciting molecules
vibrating in line
with Universe’s rules

This one bounced my feet. spot on, Fred.
Thanks Kevin, drum solos are the greatest!
Good write, drummers can be the soul of music.
Thanks Goldfinch, without them, nobody would be able to stay true to the beat.
I can hear the beat - a real good un Fred.
Thanks Michael, there is something primitive in drum beats that goes way back and seems to touch us in a different way as opposed to other instruments.
A fine write Fred.
Thanks orchidee! I just love drums!

Thanks AP, see my answer to Kat above!
A great write for your friend Fred! Could feel the drums as I read.
Thanks Christina, if readers can 'feel' the words, we are doing something right! 🙂
A good drummer can tap into the heart-beat of the universe. Your poem describes it well, Fred!
Thanks Louis, I am sure my friend Jack would agree wholeheartedly.
