I have always enjoyed the enigma of COLLECTIVE NOUNS

a knowledge of which is useful if like me ~ you are a QUIZZER

I love Nos. 1 & 10 which is what made me pen this ODD ODE !

Some are related to SOUND (4 & 6) and some related to GAIT

(2 3 7 & 8) and some to APPEARANCE (1 5 9 & 10) ~ BRIAN XOX

Ah yes - that first and last description is perfect for the said creatures dear Brian - - - have posted today on a collection of swifts but never thought of a name for these magical myriads of migratory birds yet I believe it is called a "murmur" - - lovely to read your thoughts again and thank you for posting on such interesting subjects dear friend.

    • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks FAY ~ Your Poems 'n Pics are always interesting & stimulating ~ which are two of the criteria for "good poetry" I have always enjoyed the puns in Collective Nouns ~ such as NOT a GAGGLE BUT "A GIGGLE of School Girls !" Will check you SWIFTS ! Yours as ever BRIAN.

Thanks |CHRIS ~ Pleased it ticked your BOX ! Poetry should always Entertain and Educate and also (occasionally) EXCITE ! Thanks for posting FUSION ! Hugs of the Season ~ BRIAN @@@@@@@

I'm sure this will be enjoyed by a porridge of poets - great stuff Brian.

        • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks MICHAEL ~ MPS is indeed a PORRIGE of POETS ~ most are sweet and creamy some are burned and salty ! The actual word is AN IAMB of POETS ~ like a SHUSH of LIBRARIANS ~ Yours BRIAN

Some may say - dunno why No.10 - any wise owls in Parliament? Any in "Number 10" in fact?!

          • BRIAN & ANGELA

WELL STEVE ~ Theresa May has always struck me as a bit AVIAN ~ An Owl perhaps and in my opinion ~ she is the best Leader the "CONS" have got ! Owls have a reputation for WISDOM ~ They always Think before they TWEET (unlike DT !). I agree some of the Clowns like BORIS should be replaced by OWLS ! Please add a Poem to the FUSION "Love is" posted by the Lovely CHRISTINA S ~ Thanks BRIAN.

          • Louis Gibbs

And then there is the oft-heard these days ... A MOB of Humans. Thanks for the informative write, Brian.

            • BRIAN & ANGELA

THANKS LOUIS ~ Hence the rhyming phrase YOBS collect in MOBS ! MOBS is also a euphemism for another scourge of the 21st C Mobile Phones ! And in my experience MOBS of YOBS congregate using MOBS ~ C'est la Vie ~ BRIAN

You forgot a Murder of crows. Always a delight to read, Brian.

              • BRIAN & ANGELA

Thanks SHADOW ~ Pleased you liked it ! A MURDER OF CROWS is an interesting one. Because of their Black Plumage they are considered omens of Death and also they are scavengers on dead animals. Thanks for your Comments ~ Yours BRIAN
