Part of Me

FredPeyer

I am and will always be

More than I can show

You catch only glimpses of me

Will never get to know

The part of me I hide

The part that is never seen

The love that long ago died

The future that could have been

The fake smile you see

Never reaching the eyes

Is more like a plea

Or a clever disguise

Of the covered-up pain

The deeply buried sorrow

The dragons I have slain

The fear of tomorrow

Take me as I am

Let your love find a way

This is not a sham

Or a game I play

I can never give you all

There will always be a hole

Part of me, no matter how small

Stays hidden in my soul

This is true of all of us, we wear masks in different situations and even with our most treasured loved one there is still something hidden. This is a very good write Fred.

Thanks Goldfinch, I do believe that we all have some areas of ourselves that are not open to anybody, including the most loved ones.
