Angel to Zacharias spake

Announcement he did make

Gabriel sent from God's presence

Went to the temple hence

 

While Zacharias he there served

Came fully undeserved

The message that his prayer would be

Answered by the Lord,s ee

 

For wife Elisabeth and he

Would bear a son, he be

Named john the Baptist, to prepare

Way of the Lord, it share

 

Zacharias did not believe

Did not by faith receive

So psychophonosthenia

'Soul-sound-less', tongue not stir

 

Did not stir until John was born

Upon that glorious morn

Then his tongue loosed, outburst of praise

To 'Benedictus' raise*

 

John did go forth, prepare the way

For Christ to come one day

It not be long, but imminent

Christ from the Father sent

 

* Benedictus - a prophetic 'hymn' at the

end of Luke Chapter 1.

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. Common Metre (CM). Verse 4: Because Zacharias did not believe the message, he experienced some psychological condition of being unable to speak a while. I found this long word that could apply to him!
